Where has playing nice got us? We need to stop sitting on our asses because guess what? The one percent fuckin own us, we are literally their bitch. We work and work and work and they take the money and give us barely anything. It's not even scraps anymore it's fucking crumbs. Elon Musk makes 1.4 MILLION an hour. One guy. Minimum wage is still $7.25 an hour in America. You can say “well he made his money” yeah his father's emerald mines definitely helped. Nobody should own that much money when there are so many suffering. Then besides the wage disparity we have minorities suffering, rights being taken away, Democratic party doing jack shit, Republicans going batshit insane. But guess what? I have a solution. If you're mad at the supreme court, if you're mad at the wage disparity, if you're mad the 1% take EVERYTHING from you, if…
I’ve been working from home for 2 years due to Covid and a few months ago they sent us back to the office on a hybrid schedule. We all work two set days a week. However, management claims it’s “flexible” and if we need to switch a day for whatever reason like the ac guy is coming and you need to let him in or something we can let them know of the switch at least the day before. Well last night a had a stomach ache all night and figured I would go to the bathroom in the morning and be fine. I ended up throwing up in the middle of the night, slept like crap and texted my boss a few hours before my shift to let him know I would need to work from home. I don’t have any sick time because I had Covid and had…
So while back I posted about how I was leaving my job, I didn’t end up leaving for another few months because I got a raise and promotion. It wasn’t worth it now that I look back because I was still miserable. The manager I had turned out to be two faced( no surprise there…) He constantly lied to employees trying keeping their hopes up and lied about the restaurant owner’s and corporate earnings. We got into an argument about me going around one day and asking people what they made, called me unprofessional and unethical while he kept discouraging people from talking about their wages and lied to me about how I made “people uncomfortable “ when everyone who i asked didn’t give a fuck about telling me. He kept trying to push to others trying to manipulate them into thinking that they were uncomfortable but most came to…
A general consumer strike is a great way to fight for workers right and laws to be changed in the US, but unless someone famous or has a large platform calls for it on specific dates, it won’t happen. Some celebrity or politician needs to lead the charge, otherwise people will strike a little here and a little there, but it won’t go anywhere unless EVERYONE knows about it, and unfortunately I’m not seeing a ton of people with a platform planning on doing that. If there is somehow someone here who has any kind of reach, and want to start a strike, I say go for it. The only way to do it is if everyone’s on the same page
I just had a week +1 day's holidays, and was sick yesterday so I'm going to the doctor today. Instead of giving me stink about being sick just after my holidays and treating me like a criminal, they specifically told me to get a cert and get it post dated from when I was sick, and I'd get some of my holidays returned. I was sick saturday, so I'd get monday returned. The point of this post, is I have had it the other way, when I was young I never took sick time off, and when my father passed, I took a bit of time, and was treated like shit because it wasn't convenient. being treated with respect and concern, really shifts your perspective. Just to be clear, the post is about being treated with respect and concern, is possible, and to not settle for less than. everyone deserves…
I think r/antiwork is a valuable tool for workers to learn their rights and be aware of labour laws. This sub has exposed and helped workers by raising awareness of poor working conditions by toxic employers. I hope lost wages have been recovered and toxic employers go under due to “no one wanting to work” for them. No one deserves abuse in order to scrape a together living. Also I have noticed the general attitude of r/antiwork has changed from bitter people who believe all jobs and employers are bad to a community which stands up and helps those who are lost and or abused by a terrible system put in place by unchecked greed.
