To explain, I live in Oregon and I work in an auto shop with no air conditioning and it's summer time where it's gonna be over 100 in the shop this summer. Management wants us to wear pants and long sleeved shirts to be more professional looking. With no cooling in the shop, doing physical labor and working on hot ass cars all day, is there anything that states you can wear shirt and a t shirt? Because thats what we usually do but now we are being threatened to be sent home for doing so.

My Boss refused to let me call out
I work for a hospital and have been here since September. I genuinely work my ass off and cover others shifts and am often working shifts with a skeleton crew so sometimes we really struggle, but I have toughed it out and very, very rarely ever get anytime off. I caught COVID about a month ago, and showed proof of my test results to my boss, and then did not return to work til I was able to safely. Well, I recently moved and the day I moved I had to work, since we had a skeleton crew, but by the middle of the week I wasn't feeling too good. I was just purely exhausted and worn down from the move. So I called up my supervisor to call out for the day. He told me I could not. When I asked why not he said I had called out…
I finally found a good employer
I just started work at a local factory. When I rocked up for the interview they seemed pretty desperate to hire because one of their team was leaving (it's a small, custom, made to order business with about 15 employees). I thought this was a red flag but during the interview they showed me around and pretty much granted anything I needed like boots, tools, all that. When the subject got to pay, they agreed to pay what I was asking without negotiation. I've been here about 3 weeks now and although there's those little niggly problems here and there on the whole everyone seems satisfied and happy to be working here. These jobs exist guys. If I ever leave here I know what I'll be looking for and what I can't compromise on!
Politicians and news organizations love to fan the flames of specific social issues where there is public disagreement. What you rarely see is any of them discussing wealth or wages and you NEVER see them actually doing something that will help the bottom 95% of income earners. As wages stagnate and inflation roars, times are getting tougher every year for the majority. To answer this, the billionaires' henchmen, our politicians and media outlets, force feed us stories to make our blood boil about literally anything else that will take our minds off our indentured servitude. Unless you are born rich, society is structured to keep you indebted your entire life. College, housing, vehicles, children and others put you in a state of owing money to the banks, so you need to work to pay them back. Only, you are never able to get ahead and it is probable you will…
If you care even a bit about this company, please read my email till the end. It has been a long time coming. Unfortunately, I am no longer interested in working for Neemopani due to its over-ridiculous rules and policies. I am facing burnout, complete lack of productivity, and frustration because of the current work culture. And let me assure you, you are only killing productivity. Many scripts are not made, because we fear if we stay late and come accordingly in the morning, we will face a penalty. At least that’s what I feel. I don’t want to create any more scripts for Neemopani. At this point, it feels almost embarrassing to tell that if you hire creative people, shepherding them around like a flock of sheep doesn’t work. This goes double especially if you are trying to run a film studio or content creation studio. There is ZERO…
So, I am a data analyst. We have a US-based team and an India-based team. While we have different roles, the India team is definitely the more technical team. The US team uses more BI software and does presentations and works with clients. The India team does way more coding. Like, I get a report request from a client. I tell the India team the data I need. They create a stored procedure or data cube or whatever I need. I make a report. Many of the US team just fell into data analytics. The India team ALL have degrees. Recently, the offshore team got flown to the US for a conference. I have become friends with one of the offshore team members because we realized we played the same game and started gaming together. He told me they were putting them 2 to a room, which I think is…
General strikes can take a lot of hard work, organizing, and people on board to execute, all to inflict major economic pressure as a form of protest. But what if there's a way of getting similar results with far less effort and far fewer people? We can, with what I like to call a “pressure point protest”. Essentially, this type of protest targets critical parts of the economy that many more businesses rely on. Tactics of targeting are: Person Blockade: Protesters congregate and block the areas where people, vehicles, and things can go in and out, allowing people to leave the place (we don't want to trap workers in their workplace after all). Vehicle Blockade: Protesters, if willing and able, park their vehicles in the entrances & exits to block shipments from coming in or out of the place. This way, should the protesters be arrested, there would still be…
To work or not to work (on the 4th)
Brief background: I work in an academic lab so there is always work and the lab is always open. I don't want to celebrate the 4th. I've really never celebrated it, but I take the day off. This year, I am more invested in not celebrating. Should I go to work like it was any other day? Or should I take the paid vacation, which would make me feel complicit in the celebration?
