Pos manager
My buddy went to take a mental health break for a few minutes in his truck and was sent this by his manager yesterday
I think if my boss told me I had to buy a new car I would tell him that they can pay for it or start taking the bus to spite them.
The company I work for was acquired recently, and I was told my position was redundant, but I wasn’t being laid off immediately. Basically they told me they’re keeping me for a few months and if I stay for the entire transition period I get a decent severance. But in the last few days I’ve had a few 1:1 meetings with folks from the acquiring company and it turns out that they’re having trouble finding qualified people to hire — for my position. And that they don’t have staffing plans “solidified yet”. So now like a month later they’re starting to backtrack and I feel like I’m being jerked around. It’s very clear that this M&A did not have a lot of thought or planning that actually went into it. Which isn’t an awesome selling point for staying if they offer me something. Added bonus, literally the day before this…

Therefore they are ‘reachable’ any time. They will respond to inquiries and requests from my boss and other staff after hours from their phones even just to say “I’ll take care of this for you tomorrow!” I, on the other hand, refuse to install the app on my phone so I am only reachable during my working hours. Message sent to me after hours? I won’t even see it until the following morning while they have all already responded. And I feel like they get brownie points for this. Like they “really care about the business needs”. Why is it viewed as ‘less than’ to be accessible only during my working hours? I think some of them have it on their phones so when they step away from the computers during the day they can respond without interruption…smart I guess. But then log out of the app once your shift…
