I'm still not sure I'm going to work there. But I hope you enjoy the pay bump.
“Skilled” workforce
Think the big issue is companies refusing to do any on the job training like decades ago. They want to pass the buck on individuals going through whether it be technical school, traditional college, etc…. When a lot of these “skilled” positions could have the gist understood with a couple of weeks of on the job training. I get this doesn’t fall for every job but certainly a lot. Degree and experience requirements bar out a lot of people who could end up doing the work. Not saying this is the only problem. Stagnant wages across pay grades are another but it is almost impossible to NOT get a grunt level job these days.
Pass it on 🙂
I’ve been trying to find entry level part time work since I’m starting school back up here soon. I’ve filled out probably 10-20 applications in just a few days. It’s now been a week and a half and I’ve heard back on two. What really ground my gears was one job didn’t require prior experience. I applied and it wanted me to take one of those dumb “let’s see if you understand how scheduling appointments works” tests. The test took me twenty minutes to do at 10pm and the very next morning they email me to say they are not moving forward with my application, no explanation of why. When I checked my results of their dumb test I scored “expert level.” But yet they immediately denied me. At least they got back to me. Haven’t gotten any other responses even though all the jobs are still posted. And I…
Need advice..
I like my job, but it has just gotten dull, and routine. I'm considering quitting, and just moving somewhere cheap so i don't have to work anymore.. I come to work, and i am just bored, and apathetic. I have about $85K in savings, my apartment just got sold, and I have 60 more days to leave. Looking at Apartments I can't find anything in my price range that isn't a room for rent situation. At this point i'm just not sure i want to continue every time I'm at work I just feel like I'd rather be doing literally anything else.
I work for a company that builds electric panels/control boxes. I was sent over to another company to do some work over there so they didn’t have to transport the materials to our store. This company paid $60 an hour for me, meanwhile I only make a third of that doing the actual work, so my company made bank off me. The boss at the other company really liked me and offered me a LOT more than I’m making rn plus huge benefits. I apply and go in for an informal interview, expecting to get the job. Turns out my boss overheard me on our parking lot cameras that I was leaving and going to this other company. Now, the other boss has blocked my number, and my chances are ruined. I’m at a loss. Now I’m stuck here.
today i worked a shift and did what was obviously the work of three people. everyone else who was there had to as well, and i fucking hate that our boss tells us we 'rocked it'. no, we didn't fucking 'rock it', you 'fucked us over' you cheap pos. you created that situation, and continue do it over and over so it's obvious you don't give a single fuck. when you tell us we 'rocked it' i hear 'i can't believe i got away with it again'. i worked 40 hours last pay period, doing three jobs for the price of one and didn't break 1000$. the only reason i'm not quitting is that i'm either not doing it alone (we can organize, trust me, everyone is pissed) or i want to stay long enough to see your business fall apart because 'nobody wants to work' is only going to…
go to work no matter what
