My foreman is an asshole

Went to see a physical therapist today. I need to readjust my work positions, which is practically impossible in my line of work. So another option is that I lower my workload, and/or we hire a second guy to help offload the work amount I need to do. PLUS we probably would up our profits, since we can take on more work, especially when my hip gets back to normal… My foremans response when I tried suggesting hiring someone after telling him I'm in PAIN. ” You don't have that much work. You don't even work overtime, when i had your job i was fine” ?? EXCUSE YOU ?? I'm pushing my body beyond what I can take, plus I have the worst fucking depression right now. Which by the way, he does not grasp what mental illness is whatsoever. My boss is DEFINITELY hearing about this tomorrow, luckily he…

Why do employers post jobs that say “confidential company” or so form of that

Do people really apply for these? I’m not going to apply for a company that I don’t know who it’s for. I’ve seen a lot of those lately in my field (finance).

opinion on job switching

Want to know what someone in my position would do. I currently like my job. My boss is cool and pretty much let's me do whatever I want. My coworkers are helpful and great to work with. I can work anywhere I want. But my pay is too low. I currently have an offer for 16k more money but can only work 1 day a week at home. My best outcome would be to leverage the offer for more money from my current employer. How would you approach this? Do you think 16k is worth giving up a job you love? Giving up the ability to work full time from home? What are y'all's thoughts. TIA!

Looking for a quote

I saw a quote on this sub a day or two ago, and now I can’t find it anywhere. The quote was basically saying you don’t “need a job”, you need all the things a job provides, and if you think “I need a job” then they got you good. Anyway remember seeing this or heard it before? Also not sure if it was a real quote, but the poster put a name with it so I assumed it was real.

Hurricane about to hit Florida, but plant workers want to work through it because they need the money.

This is really just sad. I work in the Tampa area, close to Tampa Bay. There are currently mandatory evacuation warnings in several parts of the county, storm surge warnings stating up to 10ft of surge (flooding the first floor of every building to the ceiling), and there is no water or supplies left almost anywhere. Yet despite this, many of my coworkers are deciding they are going in to work during the ENTIRE storm from Wednesday to Friday. These people are stuck in a shitty spot, a LOT of them need the money, but the company heads have decided to not give any pay for the plant employees who have to evacuate. That's essentially forcing them to choose between bills or life; no one should have to make that kind of choice. All I can think of is how this could potentially be like that amazon facility that got…

I hate how employers can you just cancel your pto

This is mainly just a vent because I don’t think there is anything I can do about it except to vent. My spouse works for a utility company as customer service in their call center. We live in Tampa and about to get hit with a hurricane. When they were hired they signed a contract about being available for hurricanes. We have a cruise set to leave next week from Miami so the hurricane isn’t going to be affecting it. However his job put him on notice that they might cancel the pto and everyone’s pto for this week was already canceled. They can’t guarantee that they will reimburse the cost of the cruise and the insurance we paid won’t cover this cancellation since we are not sick, quarantined etc. We have been looking forward to this cruise for almost a year. We’ve watched so many videos, booked excursions, got…
