need advice on leaving a family business
To give some background: I have been working at a high end restaurant for just shy of three years now. My uncle owns the restaurant we have been severely understaffed for 6 months and he wont replace the failing equipment. I work 13 hour shifts 4 Times a week and two 8 hours shifts on top of that. I make all the desserts, close up the restaurant almost every single night even if other managers are present because they have been their longer, I order all the food and am part of the prep crew 4 days a week the other managers dont work prep shifts (the four 13 hour shifts are the prep and closing shifts with no time allocatedfor breaks) and I am responsible for about anything else that needs to be done during dinner service including working multiple stations… As a manager doing all this I make…
Currently I’m in the power plant industry working as a field tech. I have an animal science degree that has no correlation to the field I am in. I was wondering if I could work my way up the ladder or take this experience for a higher paying job.
I am undergoing a career change that also includes a relocation. I am actively looking for a new job and have a few prospectives but my life can really stop while this is happening. I have a few appointments and events to wrap up while still in town. And it may be that these fall within my 2 week notice period. Is it typically ok to take PTO for these things? Or does it just look like I'm trying to take a few days off in between jobs? Note: I actually really do like my current job and respect them alot. But life events are pushing this change.
I work remote and my boss is always MIA. They have a lot of work, but I can’t do my job when I don’t get approvals (even with things completed a week in advance). And then it falls on my head with leadership about why things weren’t done. Sometimes I get straight up ghosted. It makes me anxious that I’m sitting around doing nothing all day waiting on approvals. What should I do?
Corporate fast food jobs were awful, but these off brand fast food places are worse. Most of the time they are independently owned by a person or family. The manager or worker always gives me a hard time and picks on me for my skin color.
Are the managers and HR with us or not?
I used to work in restaurants and pubs small enough to not need none of both, but i just got hired in a bigger restaurant with 4 managers and a HR. They gave me the traditional “we're not colleagues, we're family” and so far only one of them is the “you work and i watch while sitting in the back”. I know every places are different, but as a rule of thumb, are managers just in the same boat as us, or in the end they just try to squeeze every ounce of juice out of us? Asking so i know if i work 100% to relieve a fellow worker or just the bare minimum for a scummy half boss
Medical Billing/Coding Unions
Hey all, I work for an insurance company as a risk adjustment medical coder. I was wondering if anyone knew of any unions for medical billers/coders, and if they don’t exist, how to go about forming one. I’m brand new to doing anything related to unions so I need a lot of guidance. I’m also relatively new (
Ex boss won’t pay up!
So I started a new job that is way closer to my home, cutting my commute time by 60% one way! So yesterday would have been my last check from my old job. (One weeks pay) but it didn’t deposit. My old boss isn’t answering text, or calls and I’m furious. What do I do
