I have a friend who works as a server at a diner in New Jersey. She is required to give a percentage of her tips to the busboys. This is not really a tip pool because she doesn’t share tips with other servers. Now I’m pretty sure this is illegal, and knowing the owner it wouldn’t surprise me, so can anyone link me to the law if it is illegal so she can get Justice

My boss and I had a “meeting” a week ago and she basically said “Hey, you’ve made a lot of mistakes even though your dad’s dying and you bought a house. are you ok? Also, please don’t ask me questions about things you can easily find out yourself.” Like wtf? So I’m making mistakes but you don’t want me to do the thing that prevents mistakes which is asking you a question? Do you want me to do your job for you? I’ve had this happen way too many times in a job. Yet, despite that, she wants to give me even more work while I’m overwhelmed as fuck. Yaaay.

Department goes out for beers once a month. I don’t want to go because to me it feels like an unpaid meeting. I want to do the minimum hours of work required and go home and not think about work or deal with work stress and work drama. I value my time out of work. Any advice on how to handle this?
