I keep seeing story after story of awful bosses and crap jobs. I posted elsewhere and had to delete for bullying. I work remote for a govt agency but have been asked to start going in once a month to “team build.” I haven’t been in for 2 glorious years. I’m hella lucky but Like wtf even is that. Team building. I just wanted some validation and commiseration but all I got was a couple of jerks who were like “grow up some people go to work in an office everyday” and I’m like YEAH and that sucks too! Why should we be satisfied with living month to month, under stress year to year, while the most egotistical or least caring wins the most?

First off I want to say that both of us are okay. I scrapped up my knee and he was bruised. Its been a month now and we are both 100% fine. So quick story. We were walking back from my place to his in our apartment complex when a car turned the corner while we were crossing the street. His daughter was with us and I pushed her out of the way before I dived out of the way. He jumped and went up on the hood. It was a wake up call for him. He had been working for a man that he had to fight to get paid. He didnt have a salary or hourly rate, he only got paid after he went to the customer and the customer paid. Due to “not enough orders and fired specifically because we don't know when we will open again” Co-worker is acting like they either know something I don't or are in a complete denial of the fact that this is it. If the company was actually considering hiring us back at some point they would've just done a lay-off, which I asked for but the answer was no. “Boss wants everyone fired at the end of the year”. Best part? They're firing us all but still wanted someone to come and heat the place during winter, which would also include keeping the road clean off snow.
