Money is a joke.
Let's discuss a hypothetical. Let's say there was a system that allowed you to gain a $1 bill for every .0043″ [.10922mm] (the thickness of a single dollar bill) you moved, whether by running or walking. The only stipulation being that you must physically carry or drag the full weight of your earnings (each bill weighing approximately 1g [.03527oz]). If you ran as fast as you could, you would not make, nor could you carry, as much as Jeff Bezos. Lets say his net worth is 75,000,000,000. Approximating his hourly income at 8.56m per hour, you would have to run, within one hour, 36,808 inches [3,067 ft or 934m] (that's nearly a kilometer and well over half a mile). Now, half a mile per HOUR doesn't seem terrible, until you factor in: Every minute, you would be carrying an extra 314.5 pounds, and you would have to move at a…
Confused and dejected
Hey reddit, so I have been working wt a company for 5 years and due to my own personal issues like low self-esteem and worth I always pushed myself to be the most hard working employee. It did pay off tho, I like to believe that the people I work with are are good people and I have had steady promotions and salary increments. Now after all this time though I have started to feel like I am taken for granted here. That i will always be able to get the job done and never say no. This feeling has led me to stop putting any extra effort into my job. I go I clock in, I complete my work and I clock out. I am not sure if I should just outright quit or work on improving my position. Please help!!! Any suggestions are welcomed.
“It’s not about the money”
I work in mining. The company is complaining they can't attract new workers because we won't allow them to change the roster. The competition just posted their pay rates to Facebook. ($Au)
The American life is fucked up.
I was making a comment in another sub when I realized the overall expected life of an American is so fucking sad. You are expected to graduate school and spend your entire life revolving around your job. Go find someone who wants work done that will make them money, and they will pay you a tiny crumb of what they make. You must ask your boss for permission to be able to take time off from work, to be able to go and do something you actually want to do. And they aren’t even legally required to give you any time away from your job ! I mean let’s go crazy and say you get a week off each month. That’s only 12 weeks a year. One year of your life, and 12 out of the 52 weeks are spent trying to make money. And who here gets 1 week…
