I'm a bartender. I loved my job so much. I was always happy to be there and did my job well. The restaurant I worked at was corporate, but had only a few locations owned by the same families. I'd never really met any of the owners or office staff in the 6 months I worked there. Being on time is the one thing that I really have always struggled with, especially since I don't drive and there's no viable transit where I live. I used to be a lot worse (at other jobs), but since I started at this place I was only late a couple times. By late, I mean 2-3 minutes. Most days I arrive 4-7 minutes early or at the very least I'm hitting “clock in” at 5pm on the dot. That means I'm ready to work at 5pm since I go from the office to…

Army corporatism has ruined my life
The more I browse this sub I realize how much I hate where my life has gone. Went from being an abused child to an awkward teen to a shitty officer, nothing meaningful to show for a wasted 26 years of my life other than major depression and ptsd. No friends, no family, no hobbies. I'm waiting to get discharged but all I see is horror stories on the news, and I wonder if I will even be able to survive as a civilian. Even got thrown in a psych ward and got abused by nurses and cockroaches due to “suicide risk”. I love how all the VA orientation revolves around how I should embrace corporate culture, work for money, be a manager. I can't manage 25 soldiers, how in fuck will I be able to manage a store!? The army took 2 of my soldiers, just kids out of…
Incident at work, please help
Hello everyone. Before I get into the main point, I need to provide some details. New here btw so tell me if I’m doing anything wrong post wise. I currently work for a restaurant who’s primary dish’s are based around wings (fried chicken). I’ve been with them for almost a couple of months now and it’s been good for the most part. The only issue I have been having is in regards to my IBS. IBS stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and it can cause waves of extreme crippling nausea and general cramps/stomach pain that’s slightly not as bad. However, as I’m sure you can imagine, working around raw chicken can be troublesome. I haven’t had any issues at work from it until today. I vomited at work and told my manager, in which he was going to send me home early due to health regulations. This wouldn’t have been…

Got fired during a lay off period
They said they were going to offer severance to everyone and about half would the option to stay, they fired me for some bs 2 days after the severance was to be notified. I had said I would stay with the company, What the actual fuck? Do I have any legal recourse it seems like no.
This literally just happened and I don't know what to do from here. I was at dinner with my family after having a good day out (it's Labor day weekend for crying out loud) when I got a text from my boss that he needs me to remote into work and take care of a problem for a client ASAP. I told him that I was out to dinner and cannot get to it now, and he came back and said that I am salaried and that means I need to be available 24/7. I never signed anything saying I need to work overtime or off hours, and this was never discussed before. I explained again that I normally do not mind helping our or taking care of issues outside of normal hours, but I cannot just up and leave dinner, and he told me to not bother coming back…
that’s how the alphabet goes
Been there..
Today I got written up for sitting down.
I work in the pickup department, so I’m loading up items into people’s vehicles that can weigh up to 40lbs (water softener pellet packages being 40lbs and the heaviest), for 7-14 orders an hour. It’s summer in Phoenix Arizona so almost so every day it’s 90-110 degrees. Naturally when I get into the pickup room after taking out an order I take a few minutes to catch my breath and cool down. Today the store leader took issue with that.
