I posted this as a response to someone essentially asking why people don’t boycott amazon. I don’t know why but that thought triggered me in some way to write this wall of text. Stuck on night shift pt.2. Advice I have to summarize to keep this short an readable.. I have worked at my company for 5 years doing nights 6PM-6AM The other night guy works my off nights for 3 years. I was promised a day shift spot effective immediately upon hiring a new night shift worker. Then a 2nd day shift position became open. A person was hired in July and my day start day was August. I’m curious what people are getting for paid time off (vacation). I worry that most employers are hyper focused on the bottom line and not employee retention or wellbeing.

Backstory: I’ve been working at this company for 10 months. My (28f) one coworker (22f) who closes with me has been going off on me the past few months especially when it’s just me and her. I can’t say “no” to her nor have a different opinion. She decided to tell me women cannot be SA’d when drunk because they can fight men off. I just recently posted that I walked out on my job, but because it was a split-second decision I don't have money saved up in case of emergency and now I'm screwed. I quit because I'm done with the industry in general. so can I hear some ideas of what I can do instead of crawling back into the capitalism hellhole? It will always be a capitalist hellhole, I know, but I don't want a manager. I'm trying to start up a baking business, but I need quick jobs to do in the process because that doesn't earn overnight. I've tried signing up for almost every food delivery service as well (uber eats, doordash etc.) and none of them are accepting me because I live in an area where there are too many drivers already. I live in the US if that helps.

I worked for a major US airline until recently. I've had my issues with them throughout my work there. They gave me a salary quote, but paid me hourly. No overtime since we were “salary” employees, yet they deduct time if we leave early or trade a shift. Promises of bonuses to new hires to tell them later they are not getting them. Well, my last paycheck from them was 20 hours short. I cant even contact payroll because I'm no longer an active employee. I try going through HR but they can only be the messenger for what needs to be done, sending emails and cc'ing me in.The process is slow and tedious to even get a response from payroll. Im no allow to drive so im working from home repairing laptops. My vertigo is due to being sick and having to work in the heat wile sick. My state manager said if it doesn't clear up in 2 weeks I should look for a new job.
