My former boss never approved PTO, and if I wanted time off, I had to call out “sick”. One of the reasons I gave was “upset stomach”. She said that I had to get a COVID test before coming in to work, because upset stomach is a sign of covid. So I went to the nearest urgent care clinic to get one done. When I came in with the results the next day, she said that I had to come in to my place of work for the COVID pcr test. This former workplace of mine is a healthcare center. I don't own a car, and I don't live near it, bus takes about 30 minutes to reach it. I did wind up getting COVID, I took a home test and it was positive. But miss stupid supervisor still wanted me to come all the way to my place of…

I am officially anti work
My kid and I were sick in August with suspect covid19. My kid ended up with pneumonia. Despite having a doctor's note i was written up today at work. I haven't had to call out in NINE months before this. I was told a doctor's note didn't matter. I was then told by the manager writing me up that she “had to come to work after a miscarriage so I should be able to come to work sick and wear a mask” #1 that made me super uncomfortable and #2 a miscarriage (I've had 2) isn't a contagious illness. She doubled down on her defense and was humiliating me. In front of 2 other managers who smirked and said they come to work sick. I signed the write up. Then I went & cleared my Locker out clocked out and tossed my lock and badge on the admins desk. Fuck…
Unions work. I like my job but compared to our competitors we we’re under paid. They fought, we voted and effective immediately we get our raise. Keep fighting. Join a union
Ah the price we pay to look fly
Mental health therapist here and have been loving this sub. I resonate with the antiwork sentiment so much. I’ve had quite a few shitty jobs in my career and have been out of work (by choice) for the last few months due to burn out and being completely tired of the demeaning low paying cogwheel of corporate America and our capitalist system. I just find it sad that in my profession we are required at minimum to have a masters degree and 2-3 years of post-masters clinical experience to obtain full licensure in our field and the average pay even after all of that is still around $50-55k. It’s a joke. And for that meager salary (if you can even get that) we are essentially production factory line workers and our only purpose is to bill insurance and make money for the company, so we’re forced to see patients back…
Crazy hiring manager
So I’m a broke college student tryna make some side $$$. Found this sweet $20/hour job and applied. They immediately texted me trying to schedule an interview, I gave my availability. The hiring manager literally offered me interview windows that were 20 minutes outside my generous 10+ hours of availability I provided on multiple days. I ghosted and the manager started texting stuff like so which one works. I checked my class syllabus and was like yea I’m not gonna take a 5 point penalty to go to an interview and blocked the company.
