What does this community think about my situation?

Back in Summer 2021 I was given the position of “Operations Manager”. The role is to schedule jobs, manage the employees, do the installs, and coordinate everything related to storage. Came with a pay raise of $52k a year which for me is the most I've ever made. In 2022 I'm still in the same position, but it changed in such a way due to a lack of job outline. Not only do I do the installs, but I had no choice but to take on the responsibility of coordinating our new closet line and those installs, plus coordinating all the laying down of our floor coatings, managing the warehouse and inventory, planning around every little issue that crops up, managing the employees, training employees, keeping on top of orders as they come in; when they ship. Just an endless number of things. This position is part administrative, part labor,…

Split off days angers me to where I prefer to work overtime/6/7 days instead having days off

Many of these lower paying service and retail jobs don’t off flexible scheduling as they all want you to work the weekends and they are all 2nd and 3rd shifts.

How do you handle being threatened with violence at work?

I worked many jobs and at every job I have had I was threatened with violence or verbal abuse. What are some stories of violence or verbal abuse that have happened to you ?

Record everything toxic at your job with your phone camera or audio recorder.

I can't believe how little proof i have of all the toxic shit that happened at some of my jobs. All I have is my journal but that is subjective. I wish i had taken videos or audio recordings of some of the conversations i had at work. I know it's illegal to record people without their permission but that is not the case in case of a crime and I find it a crime how toxic some jobs are. PS: the footage would be crucial in case you need to sue you company or if you need help from your union.

Union job: employer admits to being late paying me.

No unexcused absences. Actually an overachiever. Now I'm stuck at home while my colleagues are enjoying their three day weekend because my employer admits to dropping the ball with their payroll (over 5 days late). Checks are bouncing. Credit cards maxed out. Not looking forward to going back to work. Union is filing a grievance, but I think California state law may yield more of a remedy to my predicament, unless I demand substantive compensation in my grievance. But the Union usually doesn't want to stick it's head out. I don't know. Fuck work.

Finally an end to the trilogy of dealing with a shitty manager.

After 4 grueling months of dealing with a shitty, bossy, micromanaging boomer manager, I'm proud to say that I'm officially done with her. Context: Some bullshit about how being a POS manager is good for the workplace. Trying to get me back to work while having a contagious disease and lost one part timer because of minor incidents. As for the straw that broke the camel's back, take a look at these text messages first: I am the last one on the schedule. I was initially going to be resigning around mid August, due to the branch I'm working at is going to close down and I don't want to be there when they are tidying and packing up stuff. But my coworkers wanted me to stay and even offered to help me negotiate with the manager that I could return as a part timer with more flexible hours, strictly…

We must push for mandatory rest breaks in every State

We are not machines. Unethical employers will always take advantage of such a lack of legal protections. Time for this to change. This needs to be law in every US state
