Friend “Fired” from Starbucks

I have a friend that works at a Starbucks (in Arkansas if it matters). He had to be gone for this weekend, and called in ahead of time as well as tried for the last few days to get the shifts covered. He had all covered except 1. 1 SINGLE SHIFT. The general manager called to say he’s fired because he’s leaving them short staffed. This was the first time he’s had to do anything like this. Any advice on what he can do now? Or how I can help as a friend?

Genuine question / point to make.

I'll try to keep this as simple as possible. I am a new business owner. I have a fairly profitable landscaping business and I pay my employees well over the average pay (generally 1k to 2k+ a week). I did this because having always worked for someone else I made a promise that if I were ever signing checks I would pay my people not only a living wage but a good living wage at that. Most of my guys make anywhere between 45-100 an hour depending on the job. I constantly see people screaming about Amazon and other low skilled jobs and calling for higher pay. I pay my workers a high amount because they are doing more skilled work than packing boxes or dropping off packages. My question is, has anyone considered what will happen to small business if magically Amazon started paying the box packers let's say…

This isn’t my post, but simply this OP doesn’t like their co-workers being nice to them and doesn’t want to be their friend. In the comments OP is complaining how they will report their co-worker to HR if they continue to talk to OP.

Question about mandatory meeting

Hello! Thank you for any help. I was wondering if it was allowed or any law which may interfere with a schedule I've recently been handed. I'm being told to attend a mandatory meeting from 7am – 9am. Then work my shift the same day from 4pm – 10pm. I would be paid for both shifts. I was wondering if my job is legally allowed to schedule me as such. I live in Florida

Celebrities are not your ally! They are in the owning class.

So many my childhood heroes who are musicians, actors, and athletes have the same song of working hard, having dreams and never giving up against the obstacles of life. Except they are the obstacles in life; they are in the owning class who make the rules, exploit their workers, bribe our government for tax cuts and union busting tactics. Even if they came from humble beginnings (Jay Z), they will soon become the very thing that put them in such a hell hole to begin with. Capitalism rewards their shitty behavior with more money. They are not the allies of the working class, they are the oppressors

Work wants me to work in 1 day In the morning throughout the week cause “Apparently” they hired me for that position without telling me.

Works wants me to work in the mornings cause they “apparently” hired me for that. I need advice, I changed my schedule cause I couldn't work in the mornings during school and this was expected and they knew my schedule would change when the new semester starts. I work for now… throughout the week and Saturday mornings. Just to be clear me and my work never talked specifically or anything related to me (must) be working in the mornings so I think this is some kind of way to get me the work 1 day in the morning throughout the week cause they have a shortage of staff or something related too it. Now I get a text saying I atleast need to work 1 morning and that's like 5am till 7am. Any other options you ask? No. That's the minimum/maximum time for me or else I won't make it…

Don’t know what to do anymore

So I graduated in special education a couple of months ago. I worked my butt off all through school and was struggling financially on students loans. Ever since I have graduated, I have struggled to find work in my field. I was drowning in more debt and bills were pilling up so I ended up taking a job at a daycare center until I found something in my field. It's only 20 hours a week and doesn't pay that well but I mean it's better than nothing right? Well I just finished my first week and it was an absolute nightmare. My role is to mainly take care of a specific child is the group that has major behavior problems. But this is just too much. I get hit daily ALL day long. In just one week my arms are completely scratched up from top to bottom and my legs…
