So I've been working at this company for a little over a year now (got in through a contract house) and my contract house is extremely unprofessional. I haven't heard from them since Feb and I finally heard back about my yearly review for a raise. They had told me they reached out to mt recruiter and the manager at accounting yet haven't heard anything back. Well now I finally got my papers to get hired in (have a glowing resume which I'm over qualified for the position I'm currently in) and they said I'm going to be on salary for $19.25 where as I was making $17.95 at my contract. I never was able to get my yearly raise before recieving my papers to be hired in and I haven't signed them yet. How would I go about talking to the manager regarding a solid pay rate of $20/hr…

This would be funny if it wasn’t true

Gave my two week notice today. Responded with today my last day. Employer said they were withholding my last paycheck until I returned all company property. Main focus being training manuals, which were returned months prior. Assistant manager told company owner never returned. I'm struggling with my word against theirs. Guess I'm asking what my legal actions might be. Been told might bite the bullet and just let them short my check for the books (with an itemized receipt). Manuals can be several hundred dollars. Small company. First hire under new owner. Felt like a gamble. Gave em my all for a year. Found something better.
I was terminated. I feel awful and I’m not sure how I’ll ever hold a job.
What is with the mods of this sub?
I posted a link to a Video with the Dropkick Murphy's talking shit about Billionaires and how the business owners don't give a fuck about the blue collar working class and the mods took it down for rule violation. I thought it was great to see a popluar(ish) band preaching pro labour message and it could help us all feel a bit of encouragement. I guess it was too much for the mods. I'm not sure how open the mods are to criticism but from what I've seen recentlh, I am anticipating a ban I suppose.
Is there a way out of this?
Is there a way to not give your entire life to capitalism? I’ve been trying to figure this out since high school. At first I believed, “love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life”. I went to college for my passions (social sciences). Worked in the field for a couple of years and realized I was being passion-exploited and never having time for anyone besides my bosses. Been bouncing around part time/gig jobs and being broke all the time for a few months since. Worked as a nanny for the summer and saved a couple grand to hopefully at least invest in something worthwhile. I still haven’t figured out what that is. Although I love that little boy, it was still so exhausting and the main way I got through each week was to continuously tell myself it was only a few months. I cannot…
So just 2 weeks ago I notice a factory next to mine is hiring for the same work I do. I see them building expansions on their building because it's next to the one I work at. I said my desired salary was 22.50 and that I was currently employed. They call me in to do an interview, then at the end the lady says, so I see you said 22.50 is that negotiable? I said no not really, I won't switch jobs for no gain. But I was curious so I asked what they where offering and she says 16.50. Why the fuck would you call someone in for an interview and your offer is like 3/4 of what they say they require to work for you. Her big selling point was that I would be doing less hard work and their molding was plastic and not aluminum…. Sort…
So my gf has been working for this guy for about 4 months now. I remember the night before she started he called her and went on a rant about how working for him and at his business is an honor etc. he is strict blah blah blah and she would make a lot of money. From the start I haven’t liked this guy. She comes home and he texts her recipes that she messed up by not adding avocado on this ticket and it cost him money etc. and will send multiple texts in a row scolding her. Or the last 2 months she has been working 6 days a week. She is exhausted, and multiple times I have asked if she could put in time off a couple of weeks in advance so we can do something and she is scared because he never grants people time off…
Put on Medical leave without my consent
Is it even legal for an employer to put someone on medical leave without TELLING them they’re being put on medical leave? Backstory: I worked a Subway in my town for almost a year, and we went through three different managers. The first two were very kind with me about my physical disabilities/illnesses. I don’t have a car yet (which is why I was working there-) so I walked about 20 minutes daily to and from work. However, when my skin condition and arthritis started flaring up because my medications weren’t working, I had about three weeks were I could barely walk a block, and I had to find people to cover most of my shifts. After those weeks, my new boss took me off of the next schedule completely and did not tell me. I was going to ask him about it, but when I asked someone to cover…
