Hey all! So here's the run down – basically my girlfriend has just started a job at a book store / Cafe chain. The work she is putting in is equal to fast food pay in the state but she is getting retail pay. The work isn't matching the pay return she could be getting from any fast food job. My girlfriend was also a shift leader at a coffee chain and an assistant manager at a local juice bar. She was lead to believe from the interviews she would be promoted rather quickly, and a few weeks into the job she's learning all of that was a lie, the managers are all up corporates ass, and her managers are already manipulative and are treating her poorly when she turns down covering a shift on an off day. Fast forward to today – a local coffee shop was just built…
Month: September 2022
was just hired into a better company.
I can't believe I never realized how bad thigs truly were until I started being treated like a person and being told that I'm actually allowed to treat customers like people. I was aware on some level, I spend a lot of time in this sub after all. I never expected the difference to be this crazy. I just finished my first full week and the favorite joke in the office is “you're in a better place now” because the other jobs in the area are so terrible and people are actually treated well here.
My new job has a 90 day period before benefits kick in. The HR lady told me today that paid holidays are a benefit. This doesn't add up to me. I thought salaried employees were required to be paid their salary unless they take an unpaid day off.
Amazon Union Appeal Rejected
I quit my job today and just learned I owe them a few hours of PTO. I can't dig Karl Marx out of his grave to tell him about this, and I start my new job in a few days. So I am not burning with anger or anything by them deducting it from my final check. But it's kind of funny. It basically works out to me not getting paid for today and that's okay because I barely did shit today. Left on good terms, etc.. You ever been charged money to quit your job?
Management took away our podiums
For reference I work 8+ hour shifts at a movie theatre either working concessions or taking tickets. Contrary to popular belief taking tickets is one of the most exhausting shifts there, I dread them every time. It’s essentially 8+ hours of standing straight, with the exception of a 30 min lunch break. Honestly not having a chair (even when it’s a Tuesday and a customer hasn’t shown up in hours) wouldn’t be that bad bc I have the podium to slightly lean against right? Not anymore, management took them away from us because people were leaning on them and it doesn’t help productivity or whatever. By the end of my shift my legs literally start cramping up. I would consider myself to be in pretty good shape too. Not to mention there’s nothing to keep you entertained except for the same 10 second tune played over the speakers over and…
Fuck this lame ass billionaire!
You can’t fool me cutting your own hair and shaving with a weed whacker Jay-Z, you’re a greedy billionaire.
I have depression so feels irritated when supervisors criticize me. Today's criticism sent me over the threshold and I just quit and immediately emailed them that I quit effective this moment. Now I feel guilty how unprofessional I was. It's a minimum wage job that a non depressed person could handle with the occasional criticism. Just a rant or maybe seeking help, now I have to look for another job.
