I recently decided to search for jobs on LinkedIn after reading job search related post on r/antiwork. Vast majority of postings contain massive descriptions of what I have to do or have to be for that job, but only 1 of several dozen jobs mentioned pay range. Which is the main reason we look for a job, to make a living. Then you have to apply by filling out forms and send resume… They may ask about my desired compensation initially, but I rarely see employers being upfront about compensation range. Usually one finds out at the end of interviewing. It wouldn't be such a giant waste of time if applicants could filter companies based on pay ranges…

Just curious. Or do they just add whoever to make themselves look popular ?

Let’s say you make 100k. How much does it take you to move jobs assuming everything else is equal- 105k? 110? And how much do you value a place that’s not great but you are kinda comfortable.. get left alone more or less.. how much does it cost to move you into a new role? 125k?

My boss decided to not compensate me for my overtime worked. My paycheck states that I made my regular hourly wage for every hour of overtime I worked instead of a time and a half. When I called him about it just now he told me he’d pay me back for it in cash tonight before I start my shift. If I had something else lined up for work, I’d pick up the money and never come back. But, I need to work tonight for the tips if I want to make this month’s rent. Definitely already started applying for other jobs, but I’m really wishing there was another way. I’m going into my shift right now, please wish me luck. It’s difficult to swallow my pride and keep working tonight without walking out.

Guys, Girls, and Enbies!!!! Just had an idea. What if we all get together and build a farm and get self sufficient so we don’t work for cooperations and people who don’t work for us but instead work together as a community producing our own food and shelter and having socials events. Like, would this be a realistic thing to do other people would enjoy as well? Imagine, if enough people do that, big coops would just die off. Good or bad idea?

I know the header is not grammatical correct. I'm also not positive on whether or not this sub is the correct one, but it's the closest I can think of. For reference, I am from America and not too young but not too old (about 30 years from implied retirement I do not expect to get.) I do not have a degree because the things that interest me either are not worth the debt or could be done without a degree if I could break into the field. Anyway, why do we even have (most) office work? Of course in this era we will always need some. IT, support roles, admins, writers, and similar. It is more or less necessary now.
