I was told this while asking for a raise. I was explaining my frustrations with a recent promotion to a position I wasn’t properly trained for or supported in. The requirements and title do not align. So, I wanted to get paid for taking on more responsibility in stride. This conversation occurred mid-May, I was told to be patient and we’d revisit the topic. What is the proper response to this? Side note: I understand what they were trying to say. But the more I thought about, the more ridiculous and infuriating it revealed itself in my head. They almost alluded to me not being grateful enough for the position – like they could find someone else who actually enjoys the mundane work AND likes getting paid nothing for it /s I saw red when they initially said it. People of r/antiwork, I want to know what you do to make life a little better with your crappy jobs. Not actually changing the job, just things that make it feel better. Especially people who work in offices. I've recently started a boring 9-5 desk job, that's supposedly in my field of interest but what I'm actually doing really isn't. I'm doing this for a yearish between educational pursuits. I've been there a couple of months and it's really soul-destroying. I sit in this office and enter information from emails into a database, then generate and send more emails. Anyone with basic comprehension could do it, it definitely doesn't require the degree in the field that they required. It's minimum wage, goes up about £50 a month after 6 months. Statutory minimum holidays (20 days), no sick pay. I can't find anyone in my life who gets less than 28…

I have worked in customer service industries for 8+ years. The past 3 days, I have had to clean up 2 separate peoples shit off of the floor of my businesses floor. The first day, it was on the floor, the walls of the stall, over the whole ass toilet, and inside the tampon trash cans. We asked if we could just replace the tampon box, since our DM was in store. He said “that’ll take up too much time and resources, just clean it”, even though it was easily replaceable. Today, another person shit on the floor. Any fully functioning adult should be able to clean up after themselves or let a member of staff be aware of what happened, and any non-fully functioning adult or child should at least be able to let someone know. Nobody let us know either day except for the coworkers that saw it.…
