Month: September 2022
Hi I work for a small company and last year I had only been there a few months when I took a pre planned annual leave which they allowed but as I’d only been there 3 months they said I’d only built up 5 days of it. Fine. Pass forward a year later and I’m told the day I’m going on a 2 week trip I won’t be paid for it as I haven’t built up my Holliday yet. Is this a thing? I’ve never had this before as I just get the 4 weeks to take whenever I want? Not had to build them up before? Tia
it’s a good start…..
Job has left me in limbo
So nearly 4 weeks ago I was suspended from my job after getting into a heated argument with two of my coworkers. The night of the argument, I was sent home, the next day I got a call saying I was suspended “pending investigation” I was then told that someone from HR would contact me to get a statement of what happened from my point of view. I didn’t get that call until two weeks later despite my multiple attempts at reaching out to them and my calls not being answered nor returned. Once I finally had the call to give my statement, I was told someone would reach out in the next couple of days. Another week went by before I called to follow up and was told that the head of HR was supposed to reach out to me and they weren’t sure why she didn’t. I was…
Quit due to workplace violence
(throwaway account) Boss didn't reprimand or fire the coworker who came at me in an aggressive and threatening manner, which the coworker has done to me before (first time was documented and nothing came of it either). Boss didn't accept my immediate resignation and just demoted me to another department to keep me out of swinging-reach of the coworker. I did not feel bold enough to get up and walk out anyway because I didn't want to come off as the aggressor nor burn the bridge in case references are needed for future employment. I'm struggling with how to compose a professional yet firm email to my boss stating that I am leaving due to not only how the person has abused me (the violent outbursts are the only incidents that have been brought to their attention because my safety was at risk, but I have documentation of many other…
Am i overreacting or should I quit?
Well, this is my first time ever posting here, and to be honest what am I gonna get… Turns out I’m 23 years old, first time ever working in an office, and It’s been crazy. First of all, I’ve realized that some people cannot be as nice as I am, and they can be pretty bitchy. And that an 9 am to 6 pm schedule can burn your heard completely. The thing is that some of my coworkers have been really mean to me for no reason, and it’s really weird since just a week before we used to have lunch together and have a “decent” coworker relationship. I’m really confused for the fact that they changed their attitude towards me in just a few days, even my boss. I know it can be lame feeling like this because of some shitty people, it’s just that I’ve been feeling down…
I recently stood up with this subreddit, and in the past few days I've been reading some of your stories and I wanted to share mine. Let me introduce myself, I'm a frontend developer (the one who make web pages) and a system's engeneering student. As the title says, this is the story about how two people managed to made all the developers quit. I will divide this in sections, in the hope of helping some of other fellow developers and non-developers who may be passing through this and aren't realizing how bad the situation can turn. Also, I will provide examples if you are not familiar with some of the concepts I'll use. Working on minimum wage I'm the person who thinks that we must start somewhere, taking into account that most of the companies want experienced people it is difficult to find a job that want to pay…
