For context I'm in Canada, idk if laws are different but this guy is hilarious. Everybody working on the weekend is a teenager and the GM himself, a 40+ year old man, is going to a Halloween party and doesn't want to get called in. Goof.
Month: October 2022
I'm writing this in regards to a recent post made here on r/antiwork stating that unions will be made responsible for any profit loss during strikes. I have again come to the conclusion that the court system has been put into place to protect the interests of corporations and not the interests of the people. So, I have just one thing to say – as long as we keep on participating in the purposefully corrupt system, nothing will ever change. The only reason why none of us are free is because we keep showing up at those 9-5 jobs. The only reason why none of us are free is because we are slaves to money. If we keep on participating in this system, we will all be chewed up and spit out at age 60-70 with no power left to change the world. The rich will always have their systems…
McDonald’s Employment Ads
I live in Australia and recently the Tvs and YouTube have been bombarded with ads for working at McDonald’s. Last month I got a job at one in the city (the process of submitting parental consent was sooo unnecessary confusing and long) and I get paid $12AUD an hour (I’m 15). You’d think if they were that desperate they would: Pay better, especially for under 18s Be nicer to us, not yell at me when I get something wrong after only training on it for a few shifts after work I mostly just want to cry The franchise owner who owns the store got sued for mistreatment before I started working there and SHE STILL OWNS THE FRANCHISES!!! (This is a throwaway acc bcs I don’t want them to somehow find this idk how they would I’m just paranoid and I need this work experience )
A pay cut disguised as a raise
I'm two years into a job at a local warehouse specializing in making cabinets. We'll call this company MasterBrand…because that's its name. It's an affiliate under the Fortune Brands umbrella of companies along with several other home improvement retailers (Moen Faucets, etc.). CEO made $9.6 M last year, whole nine yards. Suffice it to say, the company operates in tens/hundreds of millions of dollars annually. Here's a summary of today's events: Great news, everyone. It's that time of year again. Because of your continued efforts of putting in 46-54 hours a week all year long, you're all getting raises as a token of appreciation. Now, we know some of you weren't satisfied with last year's 1.4% raise, despite it being the best we could do; but you'll be happy to know that we hear you and this year, you're all getting a hefty 3.5% raise. You've earned it. silence, followed…
i got quit/got fired
We're supposed to have team meetings and 8 every Wednesday and Friday. I got to the office at 7.30, and got a text saying he wanted me to be across town at 10. He came into the office before the other Administrator and I brought up how it was unfair to make me get in at 8 if we weren't having a meeting and he wanted me somewhere else without telling me the day before. He said he didn't like my attitude and I had to shut up and do what I was told because he was the boss and I had to do what he said. I said this was unfair and got agitated, which meant he started scolding me for raising my voice and asked if I had an anger management problem (2 guesses what my gender is and the 1st doesn't count.) He issued an ultimatum and…
If my dogs are dead can I sue my employer? Which is a hospital? jk But seriously I’m about to keel over and die.
i started at this place 3 weeks ago and there’s this policy that any sandwiches in the store after hours is up for grabs. there’s this one sandwich that i’ve paid for and really liked so i was always on the eye for it. i work as a cashier so i always ring people up but i saw a girl after hours who left with the sandwich even though i didn’t see it all day and i didn’t ring up for. so one day i went back to the sandwich artists station and asked if it was possible to get the sandwich for free at the end of my shift. she said she would make it and leave it at the sandwich counter (for employees) since her shift ends earlier. after i clocked out i went to retrieve it. the next day i got called in by the store managers…
