I'm getting really fed up with the 'go the extra mile' mentality expected from prospective employers. Was sent over a job description in which the very first line says 'You must be frequently willing and able to consistently work outside of working hours to see the job through'. Here's the thing prospective employer, you advertised for a 9-5 Monday-Friday, so in truth those aren't the advertised hours at all. Also what is 'seeing the job through' exactly, this is for a large business managing many clients and projects. I don't give it a shit about your clients past 5pm unless you are paying me enough for it to be worth my while, otherwise get fucked. Be nice to have time outside of work to actually live a somewhat enjoyable life but fuck me I guess i'll just work that 40 hour + infinite mandatory overtime. PSA to employers – If…

Mcdonalds worker had enough
Is Boss day today.
We usually talk about bosses being the absolute worst and how corporate and their bs keep trying to keep everyone else poor, but in very rare occasions there are Bosses who are also actual humans and genuinely care about their workers but unfortunately have no say because of their bs bosses. I've heard your horror stories about miserable aholes bosses, but for those few who have wonderful and great bosses, raise your hand and recognize them, don't be afraid to say have a great human being as a boss, I know I have a good boss.

I need a new career
I’ve happily worked construction for 20 years. I’ve loved what I’ve done, working with my hands has been extremely rewarding. However it’s broken me. My knees, back, and elbows are all shot. I can barely get up and down stairs today (back went out last week). I obviously can’t continue doing what I do for much longer and I don’t want to become a manager in this field. What’s something I can get into at 40 that’s rewarding and isn’t overly physical? I have 20 years of window and door experience, no idea if that’s helpful. I don’t have enough money to retire and I’d like to find something I can do for the next 20 years. I’m sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, I’d love to never work again but unfortunately I have to.
