I caused a small scene at work
We were so busy and there was only two other people there because the company is cutting hours, I had not eaten or drunk anything all day, partly my fault for not doing so before work (I was so busy before I had to come in and didn’t find the time) and when I came to work it was already so busy I didn’t have time to grab a water bottle, no problem, I’ll just drink something on my lunch. Well, it was four hours into my shift and I was informed that no one could cover me on my lunch bc the other person had to leave because we “can’t go over on hours”. I had a huge line of people. I break down and start crying and saying I’m going to walk out then. Guys, I genuinely felt like I was going to pass out. I was SO…
Wow, so all the data pointing towards increasing productivity and stagnant/declining wages since the Reagan era were wrong? /s
How many of us went into the STEM field with the goal of helping people with technology, only to find ourselves developing addictive algorithms, bullshit consumer products, or weapons for the military? Of course there are lots of people in STEM working on worthwhile pursuits, but the reality is that the vast majority of “innovation” happening in the private sector will be of no benefit to society whatsoever, and in a lot of cases, will actually harm it. Pointless STEM jobs can fuck right off.
Other guards will leave the gate arm up all day. Others will fall asleep several times on shift. Others listen to shit loudly on the phone. Some do their rounds in 20 minutes (not feasible if done right). But I get called out if I miss one door or to turn off a coffee pot (that was left on by a guard) once in a blue moon. Nothing happens to them and 3/4ths of them are supervisors. The one who messaged me is late for work EVERYDAY by at least 5 minutes and he is 2nd in command. Like, come the FK on. Its a shit show and not worth $13 and hour. Used to be 12.50 but everybody got a .50 cent raise… like omg thank you very much MASTER FOR THE CRUMBS. I am looking for jobs in the office as my autism does not allow for customer…
Who at Tesla decided to have door handles inset into the door, so as to confuse new passengers on a daily basis? You have to push on them instead of pull them. Uber drivers must be pissed about the confusion it creates.
Worked a couple of times…. Some nice places but many of them seem to be giving you a bad rating for anything. So that drops your score and you are unable to get the higher paying jobs. Also lots of disrespect when you are a temp employee. Some places don't even want you to have a break.
I have been unemployed since 2021 when my employer pulled remote work option off me while my son was still online learning. Then I got pregnant, had a kid and she is currently 3mo. My mom thinks I should be out sending resumes since last month. She was upset that I wasn't doing it at all. Today I found out she had been pulling favors to get me an office job in her friend's husband's office. It's a job not related to my degree and experience, but she can make 'adjustments' for me. I turned her down and asked her to just text my sister instead, and she blew up on me. Saying I should start saving up for retirement now. Saying my kid's education will take out a lot of money from me. (Funny, because I took a loan and worked between semesters to afford my degree, lol). But…
Work is truly daily hell for me now
I work in a recruitment agency that is extremely discriminatory , sexist, ableist individualistic and money-driven. The CEO of the company will openly say in a conference (where everyone is presence) “we hire girls because girls are easy to manage”, “girls just want to marry rich and stop working, those who don’t want to quit are just ones who want to buy more shoes and bags”, “y’all are so pretty as you, ladies should be”. It’s even worse when my female manager feels exactly the same about things He would open reject applicants who are not “skinny” enough and even request that they wear mini-skirts to interviews Moreover, the way people are paid here is also extremely sketchy. If recruiters don’t reach their monthly sales goal, 20% of their salary would get taken away. Even if they reach their goals, company would still find a way to take 50% of…
