I was supposed to interview with an equitable, international, and also litigious financial company today only to be completely blown off by the interviewer. Imagine if I was just 5-10 minutes late, that could be used against me on my interview. I was 30 minutes early and waited an extra hour before reaching out to my recruiter. Why is this the representation I should receive from a potential employer? This is not the first company to do this to me either. What a waste of my time!

He used to work at a non profit as a therapist and now he works at a for profit as a therapist. He actually like his new for profit workplace more than his nonprofit work place. At the non profit he had to deal with workplace politics, do stuff not in his job description and commute to work. His old manager at the nonprofit micromanages him and pressures him to do overtime constantly under the excuse of “the community needs you”. Then they offer him a 3% raise for inflation adjustment while the executive director got a 12% raise. When he asked why they said they don’t have the budget. Two years ago I bought a 7th row ticket to see King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard at Red Rocks, Colorado. I’m 40, a family man, and I’d never taken a trip by myself. I’d also never seen a show at Red Rocks. Finally, I’d never seen King Gizzard, one of my absolute favorite bands, perform live. I booked flights, a hotel room, and a rental car for what was supposed to be a two-day trip full of personal firsts. My wife was really excited for me to go as well, because she travels a lot for work and thought it was a bummer that I’ve never traveled alone. I notified my boss and team of the trip two months ago, and those two measly days had been marked as OOO on my Outlook calendar ever since. I work as a paralegal for the State government. Everyone just got a 5% raise! Great news right? Also, my insurance rate is nearly doubling. My “five percent” raise is going to be less than $10 per paycheck. Basically, I feel like I'm helping launder money for a multi-billion dollar insurance company. All so that the State can say, “We gave you a big raise, aren't you grateful??” So grateful I can (probably) afford to stay alive in America.

Forget being nice. Class warfare is being waged upon the lower and middle classes everyday. We need to expose companies who are preying on the little guys. I don’t think we should censor information like company names. They deserve to be dragged in the dirt and exposed. Playing nice is how they continue to get away with screwing us over and over.
i can understand the usual “3 no calls and you're out” thing, but calling out a day prior because of really any reason shouldn't be a mark against you, and oftentimes employers make the bar for termination with points so low that it just feels like another way to screw over the worker. i miss when i didn't have an “occurrence” weighed against me for unforeseen circumstances. many of my jobs didn't even allow me to accrue sick time to cover those days unless i went full time, and even then it took a year to essentially cover one sick day. the whole system just makes me feel guilty taking a day or two off even just for my own mental health.
