My manager took an extended leave at the beginning of September. Before he left he placed someone from outside the company into his role. Also before he left, he indicated nothing would change regarding our pay. Fast forward to today. Today myself and one other employer were supposed to be paid commission, and it didn’t happen. My current manager has been dodgy on the issue. I’m not sure what to do. This feels like an HR issue but our HR guy is on vacation. Should I just reach out to the owner? Any thoughts would be appreciated as I’m fuming (and my credit score may take a drop this month).

Hi y'all! At the beginning of 2022, I started a new job in a field I love and also landed a great salary + benefits. My boss has been very chill from the start and basically told me that he doesn't care what I do or how I organize my time as long as I meet targets. My colleagues seemed to be nice and were doing their own thing as our duties/projects don't overlap. Now, I do my job quite well and I got many things automated so now it's not stressful at all – I love it! For the first time in my life I didn't have a micromanaging boss, a ton of useless meetings in my schedule and other frustrating corporate things. However, a month ago the management announced that they would like to expand our team and some of my colleagues thought that they might get promoted…

I currently work in a situation with a lot of down time. I have to be in the office and I have to be able to answer the phone. However the phone doesn't ring often and the calls are very short. I literally have 8 hours a day of down time. I am currently using this time to get my next degree. However, I am wondering if I can exploit this system to get a second job and work that job during my down time here. I have no idea what that job should be. Opinions? Ideas? Risks involved?
