Quitting after employer was unclear about pay

I recently had a second job at a pizzeria as a delivery driver. I had done this kind of work in the past, made decent money and had a good time. This pizzeria is a different story. The job posting said I'd be making “$15-18 hourly.” Imagine my horror when my first paycheck was only about $50 for 19 hours of work. I learned that I was getting paid $6 an hour before taxes. Of course my employer wasn't able to answer my questions and didn't seem to understand what the issue was. “Everyone knows minimum wage is different for tipped workers, because the tips make up the difference,” they said. I averaged about $70 in tips per night. The weirdest thing was that they charged me a direct deposit fee of $1.75 per paycheck, which they also conveniently forgot to mention when I signed up for it. I've never…

I didn’t get the sign on bonus?

I started a job and was told I would get 1000$ sign on bonus. They said mt first paycheck I would receive 500$ and after 3 months I would get another 500$. It took them a month to get me my first paycheck bc they're behind on payroll or whatever, but I let them know on Friday will be my last day. (This is the day I thought I would get my first paycheck). But I got my paycheck today and it's only 200$, with no bonus. I told them the reason I had to leave was because my husband lost his job, and he lost his car. So we are really struggling financially and I can't afford to drive 45 minutes for 12$/hr anymore. My last day would be the day we get our paychecks so I'm confused. How did I not get the bonus?????

We can’t be pro-automation if we don’t own the technology

I'm all for working less, and replacing the drudgery and exploitation with automated solutions. But how does that work if we don't own those tools? With the rich owning all automation, we are bound to end up in an economically unenviable position, especially when considering the outsized political influence of oligarchs and corporations. How does antiwork resolve this tension between wanting to automate jobs and the methods of doing so belonging in private and not public hands?

Sexual Harassment Wooooooo

I'm done with this shit already. Two months ago I was at a sales job for 2 days and got sexually harassed and attacked for my sexuality(unbeknownst to my boss because i didn't even bring it up) and so I didn't bother going back. Basically i was told there was no reason for my existence(being attracted to not just the opposite gender). Also i have sibling who are LGBTQIA and they said some prettu disgusting thing about it not knowing my ties. So I just quit it was my second day anyway. Fast forward i found another job at a hotel. Not only do i get to deal with racist coworkers who will be blatantly racist in front of minority guests and behind my minority coworkers backs, I also get to deal with sexist jokes with another person in my department. Both incidents happened in front of my boss. Both…

I walked out of a job I loved.

My husband and I worked together. We carpooled, worked the same hours. It was perfect. The actual job was at a car collision center. I was in the office doing billing along with helping out with customers when needed. I was there for 2 years. Made $65k and the job itself was really easy. But the company was trash. Didn't appreciate anyone at all. I was constantly walked all over, made to things that I wasn't even licensed to do and shouldn't be doing. Things that were way over my pay grade. My manager sat in his office all day doing nothing even when he saw we were drowning. I had breakdowns in his office a few times… he was nice about it and I kept telling him I was at my breaking point and he kept telling me things would get better, and that they couldnt afford to lose…

had to drive 2 hours south to sign a piece of paper

I've been late too often. I get it. But I had to drive to the corporate office for my company, 2 hours south, and take an entire day out of my pay… To sign a reprimanding slip for lateness. No gas pay, and now I lose out on the 300 dollar bonus that I was supposed to get when I had my performance review (which I've asked for multiple times) 3 months ago because I got reprimanded for being late too often. Suffice to say, I'm already applying for new jobs. One day I'll hopefully have a passive form of income, seeing as this is the only way to escape work… That or live in a fucking commune or whatever…
