I know it’s hard to care when you’re underpaid but…. This sucks.

I appreciate the extra chicken patty… though it’s double deep fried and almost inedible

Boss Threatened Me because I wanted to Take FMLA

I am a teacher and I have been teaching in the same district my whole career. Because of this I have a ton of sick days saved up. My wife and I were expecting our first child at the end of April last school year. My wife got 12 weeks through her work and with summer coming up, I felt it was best to use my FMLA leave at the start of the following (this) school year. Well my Superintendent had a sit down meeting with me to “discuss” this. I didn't even think he could do this as FMLA is a federal law and undisputed. Anyways, within 3 minutes into the meeting he told me this was bullshit, and how I was hamstringing the district, as there was no way they would find someone to cover the first 6 weeks of school. He told me that he saw me…

Got “laid off” because I was persistent about getting reimbursed for travel expenses

Started working for this company in June of this year. On July 3rd I had to take a COVID test for work and I got charged $105 for it when there was supposed to be no charge. I had to pay out of pocket because I was pressed for time. Messaged one of my 5 “managers”. She told me to submit the receipt for reimbursement. After submitting the receipt for reimbursement, 2 weeks later I receive an email from one of the other managers saying I did the reimbursement form wrong and need to re-do another way using a different set of instructions. So I follow the intrusions and re-submit. By this time, I had to stay in a hotel for 2 days because I was traveling for work. I’m allowed to get up to $60 per day for my food expense. I save the receipts. And I submit them…

Watching the business burn!

On mobile. I worked for a privately-owned single standing medical supply company. This company had less than 10 employees total. While there, I was trained by a woman named Jessica. Jessica worked for this company for roughly a decade. Now, when I say she ran the office, I mean she RAN THE OFFICE. She processed qualifying set ups of equipment per insurance guidelines, followed up with doctors for required documentation, reached out to insurance companies for eligibility requirements, followed up with patients to get them back to the doctor for insurance renewals… she. Did. EVERYTHING. I was at the company for roughly a year before jumping ship. I left because the owner had zero respect for us, and frankly was a poor business owner. She would get mad at us for enforcing company policies that she put in place, and would yell at us for denying set up requests that…

Lunch & Learn is a scam.

Companies give you a lunch break for a few minutes (only because they have to) 30mins to an hour if you’re that lucky. They then turn around and say “hey! , we’re gonna be hosting a session with an outsider who is gonna do a presentation on something work related and you have to be there . You’ll get some food too maybe .” This to me seems like blatant hijacking of the time given to employees for lunch and eliminates the “freedom” the worker has to decide what to do with their lunch break. They seem to want to take every bit of your personal time for their own gain and hide it behind “this will benefit you and your career so we won’t be paying you ”. Am i the only one who feels this way?

Really nice bosses but bad work conditions

I don’t know if I should quit or not. I work at Starbucks (licensed store not corporate, so no unions or benefits) and I get $16.50 an hour which is pretty good but I’m so overworked. My coworkers don’t do anything, they usually hang out in the back and leave me and one of my coworkers to do everything. All the managers are aware of this and fine with it. I don’t plan on going to college, and this job has the highest wage in the area without a college degree, but my hours are terrible. I get around 14-22 hours per week, but I’ve been asking for full time. They only schedule me on busy days, and I end up doing all the work. I’ve brought this up to my bosses before, and they’ve been extremely nice about it but there’s never been any kind of change. Should I…
