I may be getting fired?

Hi I’m 22(F) and I work at a real estate law firm as a paralegal. I’ve been working here for 5 months since I’ve been out of college. I’m not the most detail- oriented person, but I thought that I can handle all these clerical tasks (It doesn’t really take a genius to edit word documents or clock in a payment). I graduated with a 3.9 in Criminal Justice, but this job makes me feel so dumb. I loved school, I felt like it was something I was good at and it made me feel heard and seen. I hate working. I’m writing this feeling like I’m going to sob on the bus ride home. I make $42,000 a year and it is barely enough to live outside my parents home and I’m stressed. I don’t need a living salary right now because my parents are willing to help me…

Received a sales email from a staffing firm (likely by accident), it didn’t sit too well with me so I had to respond… I may have been a bit too nice.

seeking advice: micromanaged out of nowhere?

I've been working for the same company for over 7 years. A little over a year before the pandemic some family circumstances arose that required me to move half way across the globe and I was given the opportunity to work remote, for a new department. I worked remote without too much oversight as I was 10 hours ahead of the office. During my time away and since I've received glowing reviews year over year and have tangible metrics to show the impact of my work. After about 2 years of not getting raises because “We are facing financial uncertainties brought on by the pandemic,” I was “awarded” a 69 cent raise while also being told that I'd now report under two departments and take on a role left vacant by an entry level employee departing due to low wages. I was never given a say in the matter, and…

Would I have a discrimination case?

Hello, Not my everyday account but anyways so I am a CSR for a company in CT/Mass. I am in a department with 50ish reps. 45 are women. There are 4 men including myself ( 3 are homosexual which I have no issue with but figured I’d mention since I am the only straight male ) and the 5 managers are all women. Everyone is very tenured as well. I am entering year 3 here. My boss is the queen of micromanaging. Whether it’s a phone call, an email, a letter she will find something to talk to you about & pick it apart and tell you how she would do it even tho it was done right to begin with. Anyways I always got the vibe she didn’t like me for whatever reasons but I do my job, keep quiet and go with the flow. Over the last 6…

Question About Getting Bought Out

I just found out today that a logistics company bought the tiny company I work for. There’s only about a dozen of us or so. They assured us that we’ll still operate as normal and that the previous owner will still be there as our boss, and also that all our jobs are secure….but imo it’s not over til the fat lady sings. We all will need to re-interview with the NEW owner, and my boss (the old owner) went out of his way to give me a heads up before everyone else that the company was sold and also gave me an extra day before my interview so that I could “prepare”. What does this mean? Is my job truly secure? I’m a great employee and my boss values me, but is it normal for the new owners to drop me even though they said ALL of our jobs…

Famous Coffeeshop Chain Manager blames me for her scheduling issue

I will try to make this short, but no promises. At this coffeeshop chain (which may or may not be having union issues), we use an app where we can check our schedule. Last week, I looked at mine and it said I worked tomorrow. However, when I looked again today, I was taken off the schedule. I didn't think much of it because there have been a lot of scheduling issues (that's another story), so I made plans. Then later today, I get a notification saying I was added back on the schedule for tomorrow. Confused, I texted my manager saying I was under the assumption I didn't work, so I made plans and won't be able to come in tomorrow. She then calls me and starts to blame me for the conflict. She says that I should know better than to think they'd just take me off the…

My manager is mad I didn’t explicitly tell her it was my day off

I work in a long-term health care facility and I've posted before about my manager telling me to go into work anyways when I was trying to call in sick. The good news is, I'm leaving! I put in PTO last Wednesday, it got approved by my manager that same day, and then I put in my two weeks notice on Friday. I had the day off today, and my manager texted me asking if I could go do something, she never texts back when its her day off so I decided to just let my coworker know before my manager goes and asks them to in the way she does it. Besides, I thought I was simply saving her time asking someone else. I got the initial text at noon, and got a second angry text at three pm saying that I didn't need to go and complain to…

Remember Pandemic Pay Bump?

My thoughts on this are brief. Back when workers got tossed into trash pile, many got meaningful help from employment. Many of these peeps were getting more money than when they were working since there was a 600 dollar a week increase given the emergency of the situation. Now I knew that wouldn't last but so many people got a taste of actually being able to breathe for once in their lives. They could take time off AND not die because of it. Folks took on all sorts of activities meaningful to them or tried new things they had the time to try…and could live their life, at least for a few fleeting moments, without a loaded gun to their heads. I'm only making this post to illustrate the point that people are much better off when they are not faced with the choice of meaningless servitude or death, As…

1st day of work/training videos was today. I left 2 hours into training.

My first day of my new job was today and I just left because I didn't like how the recruiter was unsure of my schedule or location I'd be placed, they were so undecided with me and just put me on a computer to watch videos. I got a call from an old boss that I regularly talk with and offered me a position. So I left the new job immediately lol. Thoughts on this?
