I started working as a receptionist in a doctor's office. It's alright. The pay is low, but the hours are semi-flexible and my direct manager is pretty understanding and nice. The location of the office is different than what I signed up for, so I commute 30 minutes each way, which isn't too bad. I just hate how much I'm spending on gas. I keep getting more and more responsibilities added to the job with no financial benefit. I just kind of took this job to get out of my last job as fast as I could, and now I've been here for 4 months. I am on the fence about leaving because of how my resume looks at the moment. I'm completely at a loss. I've been working at a small company in London, UK for the last year. In that time I've helped the company grow, get great reviews online, build strong relationships with key clients and more. I also thought I had a good relationship with the owner of the company … I guess not. Yesterday was my one-year review and I was hoping for a pay rise, and for more details about getting shares in company, which the owner had promised me at my six month review. Instead, the owner said that the new investors (who came in a week prior) said that the company needs to streamlined, and so I'm being let go. Oil refiners of several refineries have been striking for 3 weeks. With the oil shortage oncoming, the government decided to requisition the strikers and force them to come back to work instead of forcing Total to raise the wages This very dangerous government's move convinced the main union (the CGT) to withdraw from negociations with the government and call to strike. Many other workers decided to strike against this move : the second biggest refinery, one of the last remaining refineries not striking entered the movement Marseilles' and Le Havre's dockers entered the strike, several Nuclear plants also entered the movement Many supermarkets also joined and among railway workers, the anger is growing too Sadly several other unions submitted to the bourgeois and are negotiating with them Anyway it could be the beginning of a general strike in France ! I want to leave my toxic workplace but there is a 4 week notice period and i honestly dont know if i can survive that once they know I'm leaving. It'll just be alot more bitchy. But if i just up and leave i wonnt get my leave pay or my pay owed since my last pay check. Suggestions?
