I went to target today and outside were people asking for signatures to petition to increase fast food workers wage here in California. I work in aerospace but I’m all for increasing anyone’s wages. I signed it and my wife. A stranger proceeded to tell us how we’re idiots and increasing their wages won’t help them it’ll only hurt everyone else. I asked them to explain and all they could say was higher worker wages higher food prices.

Background I was hired as an administrative assistant for a therapy practice. It was $18 at contract, meaning I would have to budget for my taxes, insurance, etc.  I was in that position for a couple months and one of the Directors quit so my boss asked me to go full time, promote me to Director of Operations, and she would bump my pay up to $20/hour. Still a contract, not W2.  I am currently getting my Masters in Clinical Mental Health so this admin experience at a therapy practice looks really good on my resume and I decided to stick it out.  A little more background It's been months of being at $20 an hour. If your business is only afloat bc you shit your workers out of money, then you shouldn’t run a business. If paying someone more than 10 bucks an hour will destroy your business, then you shouldn’t run a business. I stopped by a drive thru gas station with a now hiring sign and asked the dude how much the position paid. He responded with “7”. That’s all he said. So I told him “I guess y’all are going to be hiring for a while” and left. Didn’t even buy anything. I’m not gonna support your business if the best you can pay your workers is “7”.

This work has me burnt out and I plan on taking a break from working, and love from a decent savings for a while. I don't plan on coming back to this company when I'm done, however I will need a job eventually. As I will need to get a reference from my boss, I want to know if they are allowed/likely to use sickdays against me. I'm only required to provide a doctor's note if I'm sick for 3 or more days, so I plan on putting in my notice and taking my sickdays for 2 days at a time, come in for a day, then take 2 more, to just work one day a week. I have enough sick leave to do this for 3 weeks, but I will need to give my notice around the start of this time too, and with the consistency of my “sickness”…

Hi everyone. I made the mistake on my resume about graduating last semester (Which I was expected to) but am now graduating in December. (2 months) from start date The position which is a development program (recent graduate) requires a degree. I received an offer and now they want to do a consumer report (background check). Should I tell them now that I made that mistake and that I have not updated it and forgot, because quite frankly they did not ask me one question about education in the interview process. I am able to do school and the development program, but also feel weird about complying to the background check and risking the question later.
