hired as an admin assistant (big red flag, I know it) and I’ve been avoiding this task since I started. I’ve gone between loathing and loving this job since I started working here, and lately things have been on the uptick. There’s a chance for me to move into a much better position so I’ve been trying desperately to prove myself and make friends with the right people, and it’s been going well. but today, my boss asked me to clean out the fridge. they said there’s a big brown mess at the back of it and told me to have it cleaned by the end of the week. we hire a janitorial crew that come every night to clean the office, my thought process is why can we not get them to clean it? most of my duties are strictly clerical, office manager type things. This just brings me…

Forced labor in Massachusetts
I was passed up for another promotion. Took 26 days to find out officially. Why did I get passed up? I mentioned how the schedule was good. It’s a good (read “normal”) schedule. Which I should have absolutely not pointed out. Never be positive. “What happens if the schedule changes?!?! Why, he’d prolly leave!” I’m certainly glad I didn’t mention it pays more. “Why, he’s only applying for the money! Who only works for money?!? We need a corporate servant, not someone who only works to get paid!” Absolutely never look at a position in how it benefits you, only look at how you can increase the company’s (record) profits. Fuck this place. Just needed to vent.

I'm going to South East Asia in winter and I'm thinking about reducing my 32hrs to 24hrs. Now I'm not sure if I keep the 4-day work week and just reduce the hours to 6hrs or if I go with the more radical approach and go into a 3-day week with 8hrs per day. FYI I wasn't working the 32hrs I should have in the last months and instead worked more or less 24-28hrs per week. However, I felt way much happier and way more productive than forcing myself to track 8hrs per day. What I also read is, that the best working hours are 6hrs. So I'm more inclined to this approach. However, having a whole day free and shifting the work-life balance to a more life-work balance seems very interesting to me as well. So I would love to hear your opinion. Money is something I'm a bit…
Been out sick and it’s been heaven
Woke up sick at the end of last week, got a doctor's note saying I needed to be out until the 16th (bronchitis) and i literally feel no stress at all. I'm just watching mindless TV, sleeping, eating soup if I can, and showering. Aside from feeling like I'll never stop coughing violently… it's been absolutely wonderful. I of course have to act sad around my family but it's been a nice break from absolute fucking stress and crippling social anxiety.
