I started a new job today so I don't know the circumstances if there are any. We don't have internet at our workstation. We have a central computer to use if we need to get on the internet. We have email but can't even check the weather. I can't get on a suppliers website from my desk to check stock or download models…wtf. I'm glad I have my audiobooks on my phone. I work in engineering.

This is my first job as project manager at a software company. It's been 3 months I joined the job and I found my boss is highly toxic. Every now and then, he enters the devs room, picks someone and shouts at him. Besides there are no breaks, no any motivation, no appreciation, no celebration, no extra activities. Just work, work and work even during holidays and festivals. This is the second time he shouted at me in front of all for no valid reason, for a project task i wasn't meant to be looking after. Last time he blamed me for the mistakes I didn't commit, I countered him back in front of all and he didn't enter the room for next 2 days. Apologies if this goes against the theme of the group but I need some advice here. Been going through a rough patch in terms of mental health and money. Been pretty badly depressed, anxious, and unemployed for over 6 months now due to how things ended with my last job. I basically do not have the mental fortitude to deal with being humiliated by management the way my last job did. Do you folks have any job recommendations that go along with this ideology? Is there such an industry that one could apply to with no college where I could just keep my head down in a safe, clean environment and just save some money for a while? My faith in the working world is already at an all time low, but any advice would be appreciated.

I apologize for how long/vague this is, I want to keep a little anonymous. I work in medicine, and the issues I’m referring to are within our hospital’s computer system. Additional issues are that I’m on the grave shift, so communication between me and management is minimal. Last week there was a procedure change implemented (I had very little notice of this change), the goal of which was to correct a problem that our sister hospital was encountering. Their workload was deemed heavier than ours, so we’re taking preventative measures to help them instead of implementing the fix on their end. The fix almost triples the time it takes to perform the task, taking it from ~30 seconds to over a minute, which doesn’t sound like a lot but it clogs things up. I have been sick for a week and had to take 2 days off when I went to the ER for abdominal pain and basically non stop shitting. I'm still sick and they still have no clue wtf is wrong with me. I told my boss from the get go, at the interview, that I am chronically ill and that it would effect my ability to work at times. She hired me knowing this and after 2 sick days from my illness I get fired. She fired me two seconds after giving her my doctor's note after working a whole shift. Bitch could have atleast fired me at the beginning of the day so I could start my recovery from the stress sooner. How do these fuckers expect me to pay my medical bills when I can't keep a job from my illness, but I don't qualify for disability and…

I don’t know if this is just in my job, but a-lot of upper level managers at my work place are either separated or divorced. Is corporate world really that traumatizing (this is my first job after graduation so no experience in other jobs). I know someone’s relationship status is none of my business but still this has really kept me wondering.

I got a job a little over a month ago. I’m full time M-F, averaging anywhere between 40-60+ hours a week. After 1 month I received my first paycheck (even though pay is bimonthly) and they have me down for 60 hours TOTAL between Sept. 6-Sept. 21. We’re talking ~35 hours missing from just my first 4 days, breaks I didn’t take deducted from my hours, TONS of overtime missing, just the works. I contact several people this pertains to and receive no response, even having been left on read by one manager. We are going on almost 1 week of this utter bullshit. Can i stop coming to work until this is fixed without being fired? Do I file an L&I complaint before or after finding a lawyer?
