Hello everyone, i was wondering if anyone could help. We are expected to go back to the office full time by next month but this rule doesn't apply to all of us which makes it unfair. Some of our team members are spread across the UK, and only the local employees are asked to return. Is there anything i can do about it? We will have the additional travelcost but not get it paid back, it seems weird that half the team has to pay for something and the rest doesnt. Does anyone have experience or had this happen too? We are UK based
Month: October 2022
Does this bother anyone else…?
My employer has changed my pay rate 3 times since I started back in March. First it was offered at $12/hr + commission, then bumped up to $16/ hr + commission. Except now I am looking at my paystubs from the past 2 pay periods and there is no commission paid out at all. I asked my boss about it and he had said they were still paying me at the “$18/hour training pay”. Except obviously that is not the case, my paystub says $16. Should i call the department of labor? Not sure if they have violated anything since they are trying to fix the issue. I feel like they are being intentionally confusing so that myself and my other coworkers don’t bother to check their paychecks.
I think this episode of JDS is perfect for this sub, especially since it mentions this sub and Jimmy Dore is a comedian and his guest in this episode is Kurt Metzger, also a comedian, so they crack a lot of sarcastic jokes. They discuss an article published at Wired on Sep 27, 2022 (link below) promoting the so-called “overemployed” movement which purports to be a method for workers to get revenge on uncaring corporations by actually working more: getting a 2nd full-time job or working several side gigs. The Wired article mentions this sub and compares it to r/overemployed. In the discussion they suggest that this is establishment propaganda, but also how “insane” and “crazy” it is that this is actually being published in mainstream outlets, plus bring up other good points. We absolutely have to have a discussion on this sub about this JDS discussion and the points…
As I was leaving work (at 8pm on a contract that pays no overtime after 4pm) my boss saw me and said – if you're not here Thursday, why are you leaving work before midnight? Time to quit
Ok maybe not worthless, but you will lose value working for them (see the lack of wage increases to match inflation). You should be fighting to learn more skills that make YOU more marketable. Companies fear this because they never want you to leave and if you have more skills, then you have more options. You don't want to be close to retirement age doing the same thing you were doing in your 20s.
Very very true statement right here!
Honestly I’m looking for jobs as of right now I’m trying to get one within a week or 2 from now. I just moved with my sister and her partner and I wanna be able to move out in Atleast half a year or so. Im searching for jobs on indeed and google a bit but none of these jobs interest me. Like i want to work but I don’t want to be stuck at a job that has a crappy management and over works their workers. I hear a lot about places like Amazon, fedex, and all these other companies that are controversial. Even food industry jobs or retail like I just want to choose a job I can do that comes with good pay and benefits. At this point I’m just gonna apply to more restaurants because I’ve worked there previously and I’ll also apply to maybe some…
For a job as a teller where they sit…
