I'm just done, I work with special needs kids and I can handle that just fine but the fact that my principal told me to just deal with the diarrhea smeared all in my hair and clothing is just to much. I had to work 2 hours like that because no one came to my room and I couldn't leave the kids alone. Seriously quitting with no two week notice after I find a job. I've dealt with a lot but this is inhumane and unsanitary to everyone in the room.
Month: October 2022
I work overnights at a 24hr gym. I’m a young woman, and I’m there alone for hours at a time each night. Yesterday, we found a little bed setup in the abandoned bathroom at the back of the building. It fucking freaks me out that I was there alone and someone else was there and I had no clue. Although they’re probably harmless considering nobody had any idea they were back there, I still called my manager and left a message about the situation, asking her to please call me back or come to the gym to look at it. This bitch does not bother to call or text me back. It’s been a days now, and no word from her at all. So someone has been getting into the fucking building and nobody has any idea how, the gym is not secure while I’m there at night, and my…
Facing a wall in every direction.
Just got back from a 1 minute interview that ended confirming the salary was non-negotiable and they didn't care I had 5 years direct experience with everything. Long story short, tried to hop departments (I'm a chemist) to get a better wage. I am underpaid as is at 55k and with years of experience and knowledge, the median for my area is 83k with the low end being 72k (I am considered chemist II) Someone left the division and I wanted more pay so I applied, asked about the wage, and they said it doesn't matter if they are fresh from college or have experience, the wage is the wage. Needless to say, it was not a worthwhile increase. On top of that, the jobs in my travelable area that pay what I should be worth want highly specified experience and will not train. Ask for a raise straight out?…
Tired of unclear PTO rules
First time poster but long time supporter. I work at a company with one of those marvelous “unlimited PTO”policies. Except my initial employer was bought out by another company and we’re still working through the complexities of that a year later. Namely, no one has ever given us clear direction on a new PTO policy. I have a super chill manager, but she’s probably given as little direction as me. I took 10/3 – 10/5 off and want to ask for 10/31 – 11/4, but am stuck in that programmed guilt that it’s “too soon.” I really haven’t taken a week off since this time last year. I also don’t have an insanely “need to be there 24/7” job. My manager would have to cover some of my emails, but other than that most of the work can be done ahead of time. I know that I’m just using time…
Overtime should not be mandatory
Working in a office where 48hr weeks (Mon-thurs 10hr, Friday 8hrs) is standard, is getting ridiculous. It has been brought up numerous times by myself and other coworkers that we are burnt out and tired of the overtime that they kept sayin we would get a break from….it’s been over a year, non stop. When brought up to upper management all they can say is “we’re working on it” 🤔 the hell is there to work on? Yes we are understaffed and not a very large company at that (drafting and design form telecommunication through contracts) and we can’t keep people passed training or in general. And they wonder why so many quit, but refuse to acknowledge we are getting overworked when 40hrs should be more than enough of our time stolen. Now I have played nice up to this point being polite and going through the proper paths to…
Hi all. I’m not sure if this is the most appropriate sub to post this in, but I’ve seen a lot of helpful advice here. I’ve been a long-time lurker (I was actually inspired to quit my full-time job for my current job to reduce stress and spend more time with my daughter) so I thought I’d see what you all have to say. I’m currently a part-time copywriter and editor for a company based in NYC (I live in Colorado if it matters). The work isn’t stressful. It’s not the most intellectually challenging thing I’ve ever done, but it is interesting and I do enjoy it well enough. It’s also the most money per hour I’ve ever made and it allows me the flexibility to stay home with our toddler without spending money on daycare. Recently, my boss told me that he would need to move me to an…
Writes ups for being 1 minute late
Has anyone else worked somewhere that you’re written up for even being one minute late for work? This just started at my workplace and it’s already exacerbating a worker turnover issue that was bad before this new policy. This new policy is only being applied to the hourly workers which is about 35 people out of 50 employees. I have never worked anywhere that does this and it seems really, really short-sighted.
Its feeling like a truly bleak existence going to work for a non living wage that doesn't even allow you to purchase a place to live and bathe yourself. After so much doomscrolling on the port 0 potty thron le your legs lose circulation and you will attract attention as a quiet quitter witg sleepy legs that don't work for a couple of minutes… Do you have any tips for how you deal with your legs falling asleep?
