HUGE win for fired Starbucks union organizer

My cousin, Hannah, was fired from her Starbucks location in downtown Ann Arbor, MI months ago for being a union organizer for her store. She sued for wrongful termination, and just got the ruling back: she won! The court is also holding Starbucks responsible for ALL of her lost wages during that time off as well as any bills she may have missed or been late for as a result of her termination. The district manager for her store as well as some corporate folks are required to have a meeting with her and admit that they were wrong. A glorious outcome indeed. Just wanted to share some good news with my fellow comrades!

College Work-Study Nightmare

Have been trying to get into my colleges work-study program since July. It is now October, and I have just now received a letter of denial after almost 3 months of 0 communication or updates. I had to stop in multiple times just to make sure they even knew I existed, and they kept saying that HR needed to validate something, or that there was some kind of name mixup (I am the only person with my name in the school)school. The worst part? The woman who denied me didn't even care enough to spellcheck her own letter. She misspelled words and clearly did not care. This is the official college IT department, and they don't even care enough to spellchecker. My friend got into a different work study within 2 weeks, so I know it's not HR. I understand why people don't want to work.

Blood of the Unicorn is what we all need

I was looking at this company trying to get a feel for it and ran across the real reason Bezos is doing so well. “He was born with the blood of a unicorn”. I'll link the page here too! Corporate realization: Easier to get new job than clean out inbox

I just realized there’s a point in every job I’ve had where it becomes significantly easier to change jobs than to fully catch up on email. The email never stops, and if I try to fight it, it’s all I spend my time on.

Sick of my time being wasted.

Title says it all. I work in a service industry, the pay is by commission per hour meaning I get x% of the total charged for the time of service. Constantly getting cancelations, just this morning I had my first client cancel and give no reason for it then my second client thought their session was at the wrong time and had to be rescheduled for tomorrow with someone else. This means I've lost half of my expected earnings for the day as well as half the day that I could be doing something else. It really ticks me off that people don't respect that they are messing with someone's lively hood because the decided they didn't feel like coming in to their session that they scheduled. I have worked at places where if you didn't cancel within 24 hours of the service you get charged in full and the…

A question about wage theft

At my workplace, all my coworkers except for me show up early, without the boss knowing, to get their work done. Some as much as 45 min. They get started and punch in at the time they’re scheduled. They’re giving our employer that time for free, but out of fear that they’ll be punished for going over time. Our boss doesn’t know. It’d be better to tell them we’re short staffed. This is wage theft right? Even though they’re volunteering themselves. Should I mention to my boss we need some help or just tell them what’s going on?

Looking for malicious compliance ideas

I work for a relatively big org in an IT department. Recently everyone in the Audio-Video department resigned because of poor treatment. For example, they had to work 60 hour weeks, but were only paid for 35 hours, or they were expected to be in 4 places at the same time, without previous notification about it etc. Since AV resigned, all of their responsibilities have been assigned to the IT department because you know, it has wires and electricity flows through it, therefore it must be IT! Of course, we didn't get any compensation in terms of pay for this, but are expected to do the job of an entire department that was paid to do the job. How would you maliciously comply with this new work load?
