Throwaway for reasons. So two weekends ago, myself and the entire staff at a local Atlanta establishment were fired via email in the middle of the night. In the letter it says that the bar will be under new ownership as of next month. Also, it said in the letter if we had any questions, call a number provided on the letter. There were rumors of this happening but we were told not to worry, our jobs would transition to the new owner. Well, the number on the letter goes to a google voicemail (no ring, straight to VM) same with the telephone number on the new owners Facebook page. As of now, mgt and owners aren’t returning calls, texts, or emails. Next, we were told that the GM would only have interviews over a 3 day period. Again, no calls, no responses from anyone still with the company when…

Rover currently has a dangerous policy, despite numerous incidents and complaints from sitters, that sitters are not allowed to see the reviews written by other sitters about owners. Not only does this present a threat to the sitters’ property and safety (neither of which are insured by rover) it’s a threat to the livelihood of the animals in case a tragedy occurs. Rover has notoriously not taken any steps to ensure the safety of the sitters, and they refuse to even entertain this serious safety concern though it’s been brought to their attention many times. We are asking that Rover immediately change this policy and make owner reviews visible to prospective sitters, and allow us to protect each other’s and the animals’ safety.
I work for a large Fintech where a new CEO took over in 2020. The company is based in another state but he refused to leave NY and instead got huge tax breaks to build a new corporate office across the river in NJ. All this during a pandemic. I worked remote for 3+ years before COVID and traveled a lot for work. Our department was hugely profitable and way more productive starting in 2020 because we didn't lose days to travel time. The last year there has been a huge push to get people to move to NJ (hell no for me). We had a huge layoff on 6/30 and I made the cut on that one. However, I logged in on Friday and was told to cancel my travel for this coming week with no reason given. Apparently we are set to lay off about 2,000 people. This…
Work has been, for most of us, a necessary evil to survive. What keeps y’all motivated outside of working to maintain balance of the shit sandwich that is work and the fulfillment you truly are seeking?
Anyone got any tips? Anything awesome, shady, or online? Any way to make money? Having no job is great but god it's killing me not having money
This is probably the first time i’ll be putting in a legitimate two weeks notice for a job. I know it’s shitty but my past jobs didn’t deserve a two weeks notice due to their horrid environments. I have an opportunity to pursue education and it will conflict with my work schedule so i decided to quit for now and focus on school. my fear is that i will get a negative reaction and i don’t mean to upset anyone by doing it. I also don’t want to fuck others over because i did work with some pretty decent guys. What are your thoughts?
I'm not a violent person, and I wouldn't / haven't ever hurt anyone physically. HOWEVER If I was in a situation where the Purge movie was reality, the only people I would have any interest in “purging” would be prior bosses and supervisors. I've had shitty parents, friends, neighbors, partners, etc. But no one in my life has gone out of their way to fuck me over and ensure I saw they enjoyed it like prior supervisors. The power dynamic is absolutely insane. These people were probably once good humans, idk, but I'll be goddamned if they don't become evil upon having this “power”.
