I'm earning pennies. My cousin allowed me to stay at her place for free, and for that, I'm grateful. But even beyond that, when I made the calculations, I realized I cannot eat well thrice a day, pay my share of electricity, and pay for my bike's fuel expenses…all at once. Forget emergency expenses, including medicines. Even using menstrual cups and budgeting my food to the minimum doesn't seem to make this better. I'm fucking terrified.

Instead of pressuring politicians to raise taxes on the rich (which often goes into their own pockets) pressure them to reform wages so that companies actually pay living wages and give benefits even to the lowest positions. Unless I’m mistaken I remember reading about Henry Ford and how he was paying his employees based off company performance I.e the more the company made the more his employees made. But then other business men lobbied and had laws passed to essentially ban this practice. Why not force companies to pay their workers more based off company performance instead of taxing the corporations and essentially having the government siphon more wealth for itself? You could argue that what I’m suggesting is trickle down economics but saying “tax the rich” is just trickle down economics with extra steps.

I've basically been personally recommended to this position and was told they prefer to hire internally for it. However, per company policy, they're required to interview at least one external candidate- I assume to make sure they're hiring well or something? I'm not clear on the logic. Anyway, out of 10 candidates, 2 will be interviewed. Myself and one external. So either the external will absolutely be a kickass hire (in which case, good for them, there's other opportunities for me to poke around for). Or they're only interviewing them as a policy formality in which case they're wasting everyone's time for some vague logic that I can't understand. It's frustrating to realize that even if…

After a brief exchange with my landlord about how the utility bills are too high because I'm “running the air conditioner” in Florida it dawned on me that most landlords are not reinvesting the income from their units into their units and utilities . No instead they pocket it and let their units fall into disrepair . Being a parasite . Rent prices aren't high due to inflation like most people say. That's why I voluntarily raised my rent by $100 to offset the cost of utilities. But it's become clear that they're just pocketing it
