Month: October 2022
Jokes on you. I'm not staying as a quality tech in a warehouse trying to climb some imaginary ladder and be a try-hard. So yeah I'm gonna stay in school and do something I care about that interests me.
2 years ago I was working as a pretty handsomely paid software dev but I was not happy with the work culture in the company and I just didn't like it. With my parents' support I up and quit and started doing some random stuff and making random pieces of software I wanted to make. One of them took off and got me some credibility and a freelance job. Soon I got another client as a freelancer and now I think it's time to expand. I can't take on more clients without at least one employee. I live in a remote place in a third world country. I mean the median income is like 200$ a month and 500$ would be considered handsomely paid. i make at least 10 times that on any given month. My intent is to hire a non college graduate and to pay them 200$ for…
Antiwork is a bad name
I don’t think any of us are anti work. We’re anti getting screwed over. Work isn’t bad. I am working on developing a video game on my free time. I work out at the gym. Even reading and learning can be work. There’s gotta be a good term for it, because pretty much everyone is anti getting screwed over. And that’s really what it is.
Am I asking for too much time off?
To start off I have been employed by my local government for the past 5 years and in June I started a new position still within the city however with a different department. I work 4 days a week 10hrs a day. All of my vacation and personal leave rolled over because I'm still with the same employer. Since August I have taken 66 hours of paid vacation (1 day in august, 4 days in 1 week of Sept and 3 days the following week) I had well over 150 hours of vacation accrued prior to taking those trips now I have 96 hrs left. I let my supervisor know that I have vacations scheduled in september Since the time I started my new job in June and she was fine with it. Let it be known that when I started this job we worked a normal 8 to 5…
online job ideas?
I work retail and the environment is very “we are a family” so obviously it sucks. I don't want to go back to fast food and idk how well I could do at being a room maid considering I have a disabled right arm. also I can't drive currently and don't want to rely on someone else to take me to work, especially if I work all the time. I was thinking online work and was hoping for suggestions. I saw some people mention call center jobs but they say if you have to buy your own computer it's a scam. other than indeed, where can I look to find online jobs?
In terms of running the company – not take his Audi out for a joyride. More particularly, how do you reallocate your employee compensation?
Won my FMLA case! Cannot believe it.
To those of you who experience negative repercussions from taking FMLA, stay persistent. I was fired while taking FMLA, and denied unemployment this past March. The whole situation was a mess, and a nightmare to my health. I realized that my job wasn’t following FMLA laws after my termination, so I filed a complaint with the Department of Labor. It took a few months for them to follow up, but it was worth the wait. Turns out, my supervisor wrote in a message to HR, “I am firing this employee due to his excessive FMLA time off.” They committed multiple violations, but this was this was their silver bullet. It was a large corporation with thousands of employees. I am happy to say because of my case, the company will be training all of their managers on FMLA law. Hopefully they will become more knowledgeable, and not put anyone else…
My Employee Appreciation Week Gift
I've been seeing people post their Employee Appreciation Week gifts, so I thought I'd contribute. On the first day of the week, everyone got a small bag of candy. They also catered pizza and someone brought homemade brownies. What did I get for the rest of the week? Nothing. I stayed home. Why? That was the only day of the week I was on the schedule. My place of employment keeps cutting hours because “sales aren't being met” and I have half a mind to think they're intentionally targeting me. I was supposed to go in today for a shift I picked up and I got a text from my manager saying not to because they “had to cut more hours” and they took me off the schedule. Employee Appreciation my ass.
