I reported my absence to my place of employment and gave them a reason why I wasn't coming to work today. I just wanted to watch League of Legends World's tournament. I have been here for a year with good work ethic and attendance. Now I just don't give a damn anymore, all management people have big egos and don't appreciate good work ethic. They choose lazy workers over good workers just because they are buddy buddy with them. People here are just rude for no reason, so it's time for me to stop caring. I can't believe they people here actually think i need this job because I really don't. There's plenty of other jobs that pay the same if not more! https://preview.redd.it/0qs63mpcx5r91.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=819cd26dc72b63679256ddefff2caa5c78a15a8f
Month: October 2022
Background: So, I just passed first month of working for EMC (Electronics Manufacturing Company) on conveyor belt, putting me standing for 12h with 15-25 min breaks each 2-4h in a room that feels like a summer day, but at least there's AC. All my co-workers, I don't understand how and why, have a mindset that, I should work overhours because I own them that, for the free transport, and for 2x money. But, the agency through which I'm hired (temporary employee), told me that overhour days are optional, and i don't need to be there. This way, if the schedule is favourable, I'm working only 3 days, 12h each, night/day shifts, with 4 days free. Or 4 days of work but with only 2 in a row, and then 2 days of break. The Quality Controler that's with us there though, told me that I might get fired for doing…
How would you handle this?
How would you handle being scheduled for a shift less than 8 hrs between shifts, when it was discussed in the hiring process that this would not be done? In addition, it was waited til the last minute to give me the schedule, so I didn't notice it til now. Now it is the weekend, I am scheduled to work late tonight and early tomorrow. I do plan to call the supervisor when I get in, even though she said only call in an absolute emergency. She is pretty hostile to my calls or hearing anything from me.
Turned one day off into a full week off!
Here in middle earth we have some pretty strong labor laws. For the context of this, everyone who works for a wage is given ten sick days per year. These are paid as normal. Additionally, if your employer asks you to get a medical certificate for any less than three days, they must pay for it. I called in on Friday as I was feeling a bit shit, the job had been bringing me down and the manglers are fuckwits of the highest order. As well as a lack of sleep and other pressures A few hours later my manager called and asked for a medical certificate. Worked for me, I needed to visit the doctor anyway. Popped into the doctor, waited a couple of hours to be seen and had a chat. Doctor was pissed because I was wasting their time for some bullshit, powertripping manager so she flat…
I posted this on the ADHD subreddit but wanted to try here as well. I (23) work in theatre in the wardrobe dpt. I have a degree in costume (just graduated) and know what I'm doing. My current job is just doing laundry for a show, and my shift is 4 hours every day. This 4 hours is supposed to include washing, ironing, and sorting all of the laundry, as well as completing any repairs on costumes that need doing. I've been doing this specific job for about a week now and I just cannot wrap my head around how I'm supposed to fit all of that into just four hours. I'm going as fast as I can go without making mistakes, but my manager has been getting visibly more and more angry with me. I've tried coming in earlier to get everything done, and said multiple times that I'm…
Refused home office requests
Hello, I am kind of new to posting here Yesterday I finally had a response to my request to work from home, because I'll be moving to a new apartment in a few days and I requested to come back after two months being in the office so I can take care of my new puppy because she is here alone and I feel shitty about leaving her here alone. They told me that this is gonna take only a month for me or less to be in the office prior to me working from home for about seven months. I told them that I suffer from social anxiety, due to previous bad experiences in the office before covid broke out and every sound, cough or laughter around me just makes me twitching. I felt so angry and I broke down in tears because now I have to give her…
Hi all, I was searching “what to do if you don’t have a reference” and read somewhere that someone on r/antiwork might be able to help. I have been in job search process for about 10 months after finishing a master degree program. I’m transitioning into a new career field in community development urban planning, and I have jumped through all the flaming hoops including salary negotiation and benefits during this interview process for a junior/entry level position. I am exhausted. All that is left is references. I already provided references (a professor, and two colleagues from my internship I completed during my master program) AND letters of recommendation from my two previous unrelated work experiences in public relations/marketing and SEO (that I “enhanced” a bit), yet I just received an email from the hiring manager asking if I could provide one additional reference that she could speak with from…
So I work as a freelance vendor doing a lot of work for events. This weekend I had the displeasure of working at a “leadership conference” for franchisees of a certain business. In the course of work, I was able to listen in on some of the conversations they were having during their round tables where the owners of businesses from across the country got together to talk about issues they face. The sheer entitlement from some of these people just flat out astounded me. Just full of ~No one wants to work anymore~ and how dare people get sick or take vacation. One round table talked about different ways of paying out overtime to save money, another person warned of giving out bonuses for covering shifts because then “Employees might collude together to suck more cash out of you”. Just all kinds of nasty shit. I think about halfway…
