Finally I’m legitimately happy once again! After working with this toxic company for the past year and a half I can finally say I’m leaving for a much better job! My old job I’ve been heavily overworked, underpaid, and simply blatantly taken advantage of (see my old posts). I found a new job and accepted their offer that pays $15,000 more base pay, full health benefits (previous job didn’t give benefits), and FOUR weeks of PTO (I only had one week at my old job). I put in my two weeks yesterday. While I was hopeful my boss would have been reasonable and understanding, unsurprisingly he freaked out on me and went into super guilt trip mode. He basically got legitimately angry at me because apparently two weeks is unacceptable and not enough time to find a replacement (we’re a tiny team and I’m the only one who knows how…
I just can’t win
I have a college degree and i've gone through 11 different jobs from 2020 to 2021 (sometimes working 2 at a time). Most paid between 11$ and 16$ an hour. It feels like if I try to be nice and accommodating to others I get stepped on repeatedly or picked on. If I try to speak up or distance myself from those people then I'm a problem or not a team player. If I'm quiet then I get told 'are you sure this is the job for you' why do I have to try so hard!!!! I thought my terrible search would be over in 2022. Better pay at 22.80. Still under 50k a year but at least I can finally move out from living with my toxic mother right? After a year at a crappy insurance company, I had enough and stood up for myself. Immediately I wanted to…
Slightly Tone Deaf
We are one of the spots ravaged by hurricane Fiona, where power has not been restored, people are without running water, etc…. Our local Emergency Management Office (EMO) has asked people to stay off the roads until power lines are restrung and roads are made safe. Not to mention our workplace town is wrecked pretty badly. A few hours after our employer (1000+ employees on a school campus) got power back they asked that all employees return to work that day. No compassion for the situation people are in. No thought about families with children who's schools are still closed and will be until mid next week. I cannot fathom what goes through their heads.
From a postcard marketing company
People should just take their kids out in a hurricane so they can sell postcards. Not sure if I am allowed to link the story. Let me know if I can.
This was back a few years ago, but I worked as a server/bartender at a small Greek restaurant. Very small, casual place. The owner, Angelo, however, was a nightmare. You never knew if you'd get him in a nice mood, or a foul mood when you walked in. I was initially hired as a bartender, but because I was/am very young, and look even younger, the men who would come in were 30s-40s, and while they were happy with me, Angelo wanted to have someone more…enticing behind the bar, so he hired a 30-something lady Lea (very obviously had a lot of plastic surgery done, but she was the nicest, and we got along well), and gradually I was reduced to just serving and was thus 'forbidden' behind the bar. After that, Angelo hired another girl even younger than me, named Chelsea to work as a server as well. Since…
