Well, I never thought I would post anything on Reddit, let alone 'antiwork' as I am the opposite of this! But here goes….. I've been working at a restaurant in France for over 6 years, extremely busy summers (500 covers a day) and during the winter I just help out when needed. The restaurant is fully booked almost everyday in the colder months, around 60 people due to the seating arrangement indoors (too cold outside) and it is set in a large, old family home which the owner of the home, is also the Boss of the restaurant. Amazing Boss, extremely generous for the staff, great staff food after service, great bottles of wine (one of the best wine cellars in all of France)…..almost too nice in that he doesn't want any stress and upset anyone. I work lunch and dinner services. Roughly about 13hrs a day. 6 days a…
Month: October 2022
Years ago, before the whole pandemic, I looked for a job with my brother. we found a place to work that was looking for people with no experience. (They paid in “white” that is in contract as we say in my country) In the interview everything went well, when we came back, My brother told me that he even negotiated the payment but said he would think about it. How much was the company willing to pay? Less than half the minimum wage, and we are not talking about a “small” company or just starting out, it was a company with branches in many countries, and in its best economic moment , when we got numbers it gave us negative numbers at the end of the month, literally it was not enough to reach half a month. We were able to message the interviewer and tell them that we appreciate…
Context: I’m a 17 year old part-time event marketer. Boss seems to care more that the booth does not have sufficient equipment (which is really unnecessary).
so unfair.
I'm 18 and my brother is 21. He is an EMT a literal first responder and we both wanna pursue nursing but this mf gets paid 15 an hour to literally save lives… I work at a supplement store and sometimes I make more on commissions. So sad
Isn’t that why you’re having me do this two weeks in advance in the first place? So YOU can do the schedule?
Wife’s boss messing with payroll
So a friends boss is playing shifting dates with payroll. Supposed to be the 1st and 17th. No money today has happened a few times. Point being no consistency. How do i coach my friend to trap their boss in a situation where they could get the boss into trouble. Maybe sue for lost compensation?
Housing solution
The problem with all property value has nothing to do with the mortgages and solely to do with supply and demand never able to balance out because of mortgages being allowed to compete with income property management as an industry. It's basically monopolistic behavior to buy up all the property that comes available and drive up rent unnaturally. It's easier for monopolies to form when barriers of entry are unnaturally high and the production rates are naturally low. Both of these things are true of home production and real estate in general. That's why land is considered the best investment. But the problem is that home ownership is considered the most important investment for a family and not building equity is a double whammy on income potential for any individual without a home. So when you see that zoning laws, construction practices, NIMBY mentality, and only the most profitable (not…
