The daily morning briefing at Apple

Former employee of apple (sales specialist) But I guess what I’m about to say applies everywhere. Anyway : we would have daily morning briefing before the opening of the store (basically : managers would praise apple politics, talk about numbers etc etc) what thing that really made me grind my teeth was the “alright folks, have a nice day, and don’t forget to Have FUN ! ! !” We talked about it, and we all agreed that we would love to be able to say “oh ok ! Then let me grab my jacket, get back to my house, read a book, or turn on my Xbox, because working 8 hours a day, Havin to deal with creepy customers, lazy managers is definitely NOT my definition of FUN”

Fired for not wearing a christmas hat.

Yep, over a christmas hat. At a garden center during one of the most busiest periods for them. They were already under-staffed when I worked there. Now they're absolutely cratering hard with the lack of employees. The person who fired me is the son of the owner, who spends his days on his phone doing nothing or giving us 2 hour jobs and complaining when we haven't finished them 20 minutes later.. So this person, let's call him John, John has absolutely no concern over the way he treats his employees. He makes our delivery driver who is in his late 60s work right down to the bone doing solo deliveries. Deliveries that entail moving tons and tons of landscape bark / compost to customers. The delivery driver has previously survived cancer and suffers from hip pain from on work injury. Yet he's hounded at constantly to hurry up and…

What’s good for 1 person doesn’t seem to be good for another

So I am a cook at an assisted living facility. We have 2 positions within our kitchen: cook & dietary aid. Cooks can do it all: cook, serve, clean, wash dishes, etc. Not all dietary aids can cook tho. We have an aid, who doesn't cook, who moves things around & rearranges things in kitchen areas, manager's office, & dining room constantly. She only consults with a few coworkers. When a few of us move things from how she has them she gets irritated & sends texts to that person with questions & demands we not move things. It gets to the point where, when I moved some silverware from one holder to another & she got mad, I told myself I would stop helping set tables. What to do about what she does? Calling her out on it would just be an uphill battle & wouldn't get me anywhere.

Can I get written up for this? Is this retaliation?

Hi, I recently got written up by my employer for money being short in the deposit on a day I was in charge. Before this, we had a disagreement on an issue and she ended up writing me up a few days later for the money being short on our deposit on a day I was in charge. She wouldn't do this before but did it that day to me specifically. Would this be a form of retaliation? Edit: the issue we had a disagreement about was in regards to her using tip money to fix the deposit.

Thanks for taking over a whole department! No we won’t be compensating you

Recently my department has been on the bad end of a department merge. Essentially my employer dropped one department and we are taking over all their responsibilities. It has gone terribly. We received all of 30 minutes of training for a whole new system pertaining to a whole new product type unlike anything we’ve had to interact with before. There has been zero mention of compensation, our work volume has tripled, everyone is burnt out and angry. And what do we get? A 25$ Uber eats coupon that expired after ten days. It was sent on my days off just before a short leave, and if I hadn’t signed on to update my health benefits I wouldn’t have even seen it before it expired. As it was I had one day to use it (and was unable to do so within the expiration due to limit Uber eats access in…

How many healthy people are always exhausted by full-time work, no matter how favorable the conditions?

Back before I realized I was disabled, I tried working full-time a few times. My jobs were fairly cushy office jobs that offered flexibility and little oversight. One of them was an internship in a subject that I actively enjoyed. Still, at the end of just about every day, I'd come home exhausted or overwhelmed. I attributed it being new to working. I also figured that doing 8 hours of intellectual labor a day was too taxing. In hindsight, I was disabled but didn't know it yet, which could explain why working full-time was so hard. My able-bodied / able-minded friends seem relatively unaffected by full-time work, so I'm curious about y'all's experiences. Especially if you don't have physical or mental health problems.

retail work clapping hands we made 90k..

Hi, I started in retail now after having a cosy 5 months payed unemployment (you have no idea how much that relaxed me). Me and my co worker getting payed from minimun wage to slightly under it (myself the lowest lol) and our boss told us after our black friday shift, we made 90k this day. Look I like my co workers I do like my boss in a way but why the hell do stores need to tell us how much they made? Whats the point? Everyone was clapping and I was thinking so whats my percentage from this? You pay me the least possible amount on the edge of illegal, and expect me to be happy that someone made now big cash? My boss Im sure doesnt earn a lot either so the big money will go to the lucky few very high up that dont care about…
