Managers look to hire good employees. Good employees are people who finish their work on time. Good employees will occasionally have free time. If managers ask them to complete another task without additional pay every once and a while, then a good employee will complete that task. If a manager has 4 good employees, the manager doesn't need to hire 5 people. What separates managers from bad managers is very simple, force. A bad manager gives an employee less time to complete a task to force employees to work faster. The “logic” behind this is that if a good employee finishes work 50% quicker than the allotted time, the employee can do 1/2 of another positions work. If you reduce the allotted time by half, then theoretically you can force a good employee to do an extra positions work. That means you only “need” 3 employees to do the work…

How do we fix this
Starting around 1980 with the rise of the Regan administration, the ideals of justice and equality in the political and legal systems of America have been systemically and intentionally chipped away at to the benefit of the bourgeoisie. The justice system offers little protection to any but the wealthy, either out of incompetence or more likely outright negligence. Proper legal action and representation have been made financially inaccessible to most of the lower class, and because of this law enforcement disproportionately and often unjustly targets them while enjoying near total immunity from prosecution themselves. An officer caught falsifying a crime will generally only get a slap on the wrist while had they not been caught the individual they were falsely accusing could have faced many years in prison. Prison sentences for many offenses are excessively long, and often wrongly administered, which is made even worse by the deplorably traumatizing and…
I want to see what would happen if I broke a bone edit: I don't really want to break a bone but the point is if I did it'll be “I was off the clock doing recreation”
Just wondering. Had a meeting with the head of our department and his underling and they were asking questions that were answered in my first week of training as a low level employee and I was sat there thinking ‘wtf?’ the entire time.
Quit a job before the 1 year mark and was obligated to repay the sign on bonus. Wrote them a $1100 check in august and they still haven’t cashed it. I was planning to let it go for six months until the check is void but could I get fucked doing that? Should I bring it to their attention?
My boss is driving me insane
Im 18 and about to finish my first semester of college full time. I work at an ice cream shop which, yeah, isn’t the worst but we get a lot of tourists who treat it like a daycare and let Their kids do whatever which sucks. What bothers me is my boss’ overwhelming resistance to CUTTING OUR HOURS DURING THE WINTER. We are a city of like 2000, people from la buy houses and make everything way too expensive for us locals, then we have to serve them AND work under them. He also throws a fit when we ask about closing earlier(we get out at 945 on weekends) because he says it will “lose business”. If he actually knew anything, he’d realize he’s losing business because it gets dark at fucking 4 and he has us there wasting our time until almost ten. I wanna quit and do something…
A Christmas Story. The Santa Clause. The remake of a Christmas story. Probably anything shown on that holiday channel. It's all forced happiness and bullshit. My family never had those memories growing up. Which doesn't matter, really. We've made our Christmas memories with our kids. But the reminiscing about movies I hated, I hate. I hate the office chatter. I hate the ads. I hate the pressure to pay bills and mortgage and a feast and presents and magic and wonder. To make that Christmas wishlist real. And that God. Damn. Elf. It comes out every year and every GOD DAMN NIGHT I need to find a new, cute place for it. I blame their school for the elf, neither my husband and I had never heard of it. I can't breathe this year. Fucking Christmas, bah humbug.
First time posting on this page, but I am really ticked right now. My job has failed over the last few years to hire staff needed to replace those who've retired, leaving us short. Because I work in an essential healthcare capacity, we can be mandated to stay, and cannot leave if nobody shows up to relieve us. We do get increased pay when mandated, but still sucks, especially with how often it happens. We are short regularly on Thursdays, and nobody wanted to pick up the hours because of it being the holiday, so instead of getting to leave at 1 like I should have on Thanksgiving, I went in aware I would get stuck for second shift and get no family time. That sucks, and isn't fair, but I have to do what I have to do. Then there's a call out on top of everything, and I…
