Month: November 2022
Why or why not? I find it extremely daunting and disheartening. And even if I did have more motivation and enthusiasm my job doesn’t like to make it easy: I’m stuck at $14/hr in my area (which is ok, we’re unionized) but you’re only able to work >30hrs which would be nice if the checks weren’t so small every week. They are even cutting hours. Presumably so the ceos of Albertsons/Safeway have a fatter Christmas bonus.
He told me “You need to be more flexible, I can't have you ditching out on work when I need you”. Fuck that. I put in my job application out to a few different places on my break. Wish me luck.
Has anyone heard of this? I mean our insurance is really pretty good but I’m feeling a little violated. Is this even legal?
Good/ Bad HR Recruiter
For those who had a positive experience with a good HR recruiter. What did they do right? For those who had a negative experience what did they do wrong?
OPS position at a Florida State University: My boss, after making my life hell, refusing to accommodate an FMLA leave, as well as trying to make me quit during a family emergency, has told me that my OPS position within the company is being dissolved, and that it is for non disciplinary reasons. I’ve had multiple brush ups with my now former boss. After coming back from a residencial mental health facility in February 2022, I had to continue an out-patient program and was allowed to work up to 25 hours a week (I usually work 40 hours a week). My boss wanted me to come in 5 days a week into work; 2 days in location A, and 3 days in location B. Location A is 6.7 miles from my home, while location B is 27 miles away from home. I told him it was too much for me…
Need to quit for my mental health
I work in the chemical industry, meaning 12-hr shifts, mandatory overtime, working weekends and holidays, and being on call. I’ve only been doing this work for a year, but I’m already severely burnt out. Every pay period, I’m working 110+ hours, but the pay is something I won’t be able to get anywhere else. However, I really need to leave in order to save my mental health and restore my work-life balance. Thinking about bringing my boss my two week notice Monday. I feel guilty leaving as we’re already short-staffed, but that’s entirely my boss’s fault. He’s also a terrible manager and has had hundreds of employees leave under him through his 15+ years as lab manager. Don’t have anything lined up currently, but I’m sure I’ll be able to find something relatively quickly. I just need out and can survive off my savings for a good while.
Anyone know any remote jobs where you can do some work but most of it is chilling ? Or at least looking like you’re busy ? If you have one or know someone who has one please comment . Thanks !
A change of pace on this crazy day
There’s going to be an avalanche of posts today about how horrible bosses and working conditions are, so I thought it might do this community some good to have some good stories to balance things out. What’s your story of a time when your boss, your company, or just your work in general got things right?
I have two jobs and I’m quitting one of them where my boss is absolutely terrible. I have dreams about how awful she is. I told her thanksgiving eve in the afternoon I’ve got covid. She’s asking for a doctors note. I’m not insured so I can’t go to the doctors, I’m also obviously lying. I can come to a middle ground with a photo of a positive at home test. Can someone please DM me one? The reason why I don’t just straight up quit is because I want at least a week of being sick to tell her I can’t continue, something is going on with me post covid. Also, I would love to still enjoy the food there. Pretty much, no bad blood.
