Employee review, how am I doing?
Just as the title says, this week I had Thursday Thanksgiving and today off but on Wednesday morning they changed it to only Thursday off so I'm supposed to go to work today, the same Wednesday I sent a text to my boss that I won't be able to go to work on Friday because I already have plans that I can't change. I got no response from the text as of today. My boss send me the schedule every Sunday so I was happy to finally have 2 days off and one after the other, after 5 months this would've been the second time I would get two. The company is really understaffed so I let it pass a few times before and the over time is really good. Last week I didn't even have a day off due to someone quitting or something but remained on the schedule…
I work at a small cafe that has a long history of the owners expecting way too much of its staff for way too little pay. My current manager worked tirelessly as a barista and keyholder for 3 years before they even gave her a raise (she was making minimum wage to start with). Now that manager is leaving, because they treated her even worse as a manager than they did as a barista. She put in her 2 weeks today and the owners are scrambling to find a new manager. idk if they’ll find one in time, and even if they do it’ll take a while to train them. So naturally, as the most experienced barista (as in, I’ve been working there for 4 months) and the only other keyholder, they’re gonna expect me to pick up a lot of slack and add to my current duties. Currently I…
Put in 2 weeks notice. Start working new job. Notice old job paid me again, assume it is because payroll lags a week. Old job pays me a second time, maybe they are paying me the vacation time I had accrued. Call 401k to roll over, “we can't because you are still an active employee”. This company has laid off so many people and is so poorly managed right now, I believe they may never notice. I have become the office space glitch in the payroll system. It feels unethical to not tell them, but I am torn. Should I let them suffer the consequences of their own poorly executed restructuring where no one has a clue any more?
For all the management folks out there….
Is there anyone out there who has worked a management position and Not end up being taken advantage of, miss treated, burned, etc? If so what field/industry are/were you in?
Happy thanksgiving y’all
Hey guys! Only 6 more hours a month!
We are all wrong. We only need to work an extra 6 hours a month to afford rent since the pandemic! Major /s. https://fortune.com/2022/11/25/americans-working-more-to-afford-rising-rents/
How do I tell my manager I’m sick?
Hi! I'm 20, so if this all sounds like someone who doesn't know what they're doing, it's almost exactly that. I love my job. Not the company (that's being handled, very long story). I work in a medical adjacent field to where if I abandon my post, I could get major legal repercussions. I'm very sick though. And I called my manager 2 hours ago, explaining the situation best I could while working. It's been 2 hours, and I haven't heard from her. I'm not sure what to do. Do I text her telling that things for me are getting worse? I'm doing my job okay but if my asthma were to get triggered by being sick, I'm not sure what could happen. I'm very worried. I don't think I'll get fired, but I don't want to be on anyone's bad side. And my manager is the only person who…
