It's all about “divide and conquer”. By creating division between workers and the people they serve, it's a distraction from making any change at all. As long as you're spending your time being worked up about hating customers, you are wasting your mental energy, and probably doing a lot of damage to your mental and physical health. Health that we all need to fight for better working conditions. Customers are not the reason why we are in the place we are. Customers have absolutely zero power to change our pay and work conditions. Depending on where you work, the vast majority of our customers are in the same crappy boat as we are. Even the customers we might perceive as well off, could be living off their credit cards at this point. I know a lot of customers suck right now, but a lot of it probably has to do…
Month: November 2022
Even if we have PTO today we are not allowed to take it only a select few get that prevlige The funniest part is we sell strictly to business's and they are either closed today or it's there busiest day of the year and they don't have time to talk to us.
Callous boss
Texted my manager in the morning a couple of hours before work: “Hey mate My dad went into hospital and I need to go see him. Won’t be at work today. I’m sorry.” His response 12 hours later: “Hey mate, hope your dad is ok, im hoping you will be at work tomorrow as we got absolutely destroyed today. Thank you” Am I wrong in thinking what he sent was cold/callous/dickish? Almost feels like he is saying me missing work due to my family is poor form. I came to work the next day, and worked 20 minutes after my shift time ended to help out, as we were busy. My dad is still not better. Not one thank you from him. I asked him to just finish up the work I did (would of taken him 1 minute to do) and his response was: “You can’t do it?” complete…
January 2022 I was hired to do inventory tracking. I had some experience but essentially built my own standards and collected my own data. My managers were impressed and always said I deserve more pay. It’s November 2022 and my direct manager got promoted and divided their work load to three people. I’m one of the three but I’ll be going from inventory handling to “day to day” things like getting the mail, and handling employee onboarding (I’m not HR) and handling the time card for the facility housekeeper who could be their own boss without me anyway. I’ve established great inventory keeping for not having a ton of experience with it and now I’ll be handing over everything I’ve designed to someone I don’t particularly see fit enough to do it like I do and keep it organized the way I have. (Which I will have to train them…
What if I am lazy?
I don't understand why that word is so meaningful for so many people, including people in this sub. I personally don't fully grasp the concept of laziness, to be honest. And I find it funny when people in this sub defend themselves saying “I'm not lazy, I just want good working conditions”, what does being lazy or not have to do with anything? If you were lazy, wouldn't you also be entitled to live? Are lazy people (whatever that means) less than others?

Resignation letter tips
Hello, idk if this is the right sub but here goes. So, in my country, it is courteous (and somewhat mandatory) to write a resignation letter before leaving. I have found job opportunities with a better salary, more relaxed hours and most importantly away from this god forsaken city. They're replacing people left and right because we're underselling and I know I am next on the list. I also know that you shouldn't “scratch your itch” in a letter because you might go back to them someday. But boy this job is pissing me off!! Just in case, is there a polite, non bridge-burning way of writing to my manager that he's a micro-managing douchebag and belittling his employees won't fix the shitty products and selling method? Or should I stick to the good ol' “thanks for helping me grow professionally but I found a career path better suited for…
Me? All the times from all previous companies. At the company I am in now I can see my female colleague trying to gaslight me. Gotta pay attention to her, because I am confused as fuck. You guys ever had this kind of uncomfortable feelings and ever noticed this gaslighting?
Particularly in Florida, where recording someone without their consent is considered a felony. I read up on the law but couldn’t find anything about transcription, so I’m wondering if anyone here would happen to have experience with this sort of thing and have tips to offer.
