Month: November 2022
Honestly my job is not toxic, too stressful or overwhelming. I just feel robbed of my life. I’m on a contract and do not get PTO or sick days. I’m at the 15 month mark without any breaks unless we are closed for holidays which is unpaid. I cannot imagine this is what life is suppose to be like until I’m 65 years old. I think a part of it also is I LIVE for the weekends. As soon as Friday hits and I’m off for the weekend I actually feel alive. During the week due to inflation I’m home and eating at home all week. Day in and day out during the week it feels like the same thing over and over. I also work remotely, which I love and hate.
Didn’t get my payroll as usual
I work for a landscaping company for the past 4 months. Was promised benefits and gas money as I explained my commute is 60 km there and 60 back home. I put myself out there worked my ass off. Company is very disorganised the boss handles everything from book keeping to landscaping designs, so every day is a guessing day what we’re gonna be working on. It’s gotten hard driving there and back because of Toronto traffic. I asked him about benefits, gas money etc. his response was basically I don’t work enough hours to qualify and need to be like him when he was in his 20s and pull 70 hour weeks to get ahead. He doesn’t pay overtime and banks hours over 44, says you’ll get them back in winter when there’s less work. I was very sick the past week and missed Monday and Friday. Haven’t gotten…
Rant from a caretaker
I’m a caretaker for a teenager with Down syndrome and level 3 non verbal autism. He pretty much cannot do anything independently. I am responsible for him from the moment he is dropped off from the bus to the moment he goes to bed. I prepare his food, feed him, bathe him, change his diapers, wipe his ass, take him on walks and car rides, oversee speech therapy, give him medication, and much more. When he’s in a good mood, it’s a rewarding job. I feel like I’m making a difference in his life and his smile warms my heart. When he’s in a bad mood, he is combative and the job is beyond stressful. He screams in my face for hours on end, slaps me, urinates on me, shits in the shower to make me clean it, kicks me, and throws objects at my head. My job requires an…
My Managers fucking suck at their jobs
I was having issues with closing almost every single night at my job. the managers said they always had me close because they didnt have enough people trained to close and I was good at it. after they hired 15 new people i changed my availability so they couldn't schedule me for close anymore since I assumed they'd train new people. now what i can only assume is out of retaliation they schedule me for 8 hours a day every day I work, sometimes its back to back, but never enough to hit a full time position and never enough to get overtime. they say it's because I'm really good at my job and they need people who can do things as well as I can but they schedule me on top of three or four other people and then will send those people home because were over on payroll…
This is basically just a vent. I finally managed to get a pretty good job to replace my previous one, which I was eager to leave due to bad pay and horrible management and the constant shitty coworkers. Around to under 3 months ago I got hired in a well known german brand grocery store (I live in Australia) which paid well and I was decently enjoying the job. They were weirdly strict about some things and had a “Oh we'd like you to be here 10mins early, but what we actually mean is if you're not 10 mins early you're late. Yes even if you're 8 mins early” but I could deal as the pay was much more worth it and the management seemed really nice and coworkers not putting on shows worthy of teen dramas and going whining to other staff for being asked to do their job…
Three Sick Days a Year is Ridiculous.
I am incredibly sick right now and in a pretty miserable mood as I’ve had to miss out on Thanksgiving with my family that I haven’t seen in months. I’m a QC lab tech for a smaller (200+ employee) soap manufacturer in Ohio. I work third shift. My job allows three days of sick time per year. I can only accrue up to one week of PTO a year which is gained extremely slowly. They don’t offer unpaid time off and now we’re being required to come in on our weekends for forced overtime because they lack the manpower to catch up late orders. My position had been vacant for over a year prior. Anyways, I’ve used all my sick days and now I’m going to be racking up points that’ll slowly get me fired. I get 10 points to burn before I’m fired. I’m at 4.5 and I’ve been…
