So I got a verbal conditional offer through the phone stating they would like to offer me a position given that I pass all pre employment test (drug testing, police clearance etc.) I gave a notice to my current employer soon as I hung up cause I knew that there wouldn't be any issues cause I know I'm clean and have no criminal records. I was communicating with the hiring manager, and after awhile it went dead silent. I sent a follow up email, and got an automatic message saying the hiring manager went on vacation through the Christmas season all the way up til January. I called the relief manager and they had no idea what was going on (no information about the hiring given). What should I do in this case? Should I call the HR directly and say the hiring manager is on a vacation? They are…
Month: December 2022
29F here, I quit my first real job in late 2021 after 3 1/2 years, when covid had destroyed the industry. Tried something new then but quit after only 4 months, because that office had a bad bullying issue going on. I feel like I shouldn't even mention this one on my resume. Now I've been at a new job for a year, but I already feel burnt out. We're always understaffed. I have to jump between 2 offices to do 3 peoples jobs, answer the door for all kinds of visitors, while training a new coworker and answering the phone all fucking day. I can NEVER finish one effing task, because I'll get 3 new ones in the meantime. Everything I do is rushed and half-assed and I'm sick of it. It feels like I'm struggling to climb a mountain, and for every 2 steps I take I fall…
“We hope to see you in 2023”
My co worker received the following email from our boss. “Dear ____, I understand you will be out of the country, and off work, for 6 weeks. I wanted you to be aware that although we value you as an employee at —————— and will do our best to hold your job for you, we cannot guarantee that this will be possible. You must understand that if we find that other workers are unable to cover your work while completing their own work at the same time, we may have to hire someone to fill your position. I hope this will not be the case and that we will see you back at work in 2023.” I have the feeling the boss will ask me if I am able to handle the workload in her absence and if I say no, we will hire someone else and she will get…
I got laid off but managed to get a job during the notice period. Start date was only two months after. I had some saving so wasn't terribly concerned about not getting the paycheck but I absolutely HATE IT. I can't even say I'm relaxing or even doing ANYTHING. I dread someone asking me what I did this week because I cannot answer. I keep bouncing between series, books, games, YouTube and back again without sticking with anything for more than an hour. I can't say “I read X/I watched Y/played Z” because I completed none of those things. I didn't even clean my house. I need structure to live. I dread ever getting more free time because it's more of this. I gave up on getting a relationship because I can't focus enough to be interesting. Give me something I get paid to do any day. Anyone here is…
Held back after work
I’ve come here to vent a little and to see if any of the responses may help me in regards to what I can say/do. I don’t have a bad job by any means and after reading many of the stories on here I’d say I am quite grateful, however …. I am currently doing an apprenticeship for a company ( after 2 years of working you are fully educated and get a higher salary etc ) . I was told in the interview there was no Night Shifts / weekend shifts , however after starting I came to find out there was both and during the Night Shifts which you don’t get paid extra for your expected to keep your mobile on during the night incase a client needs your help whilst you’re asleep. This surprised me however I got on with it . I tend to stay an…
JCPenney sucks to work for.
That is all.
open enrollment
Anyone else find it interesting that in order to get enrolled or make changes to health insurance we have a small window of time in November. However, they can deny you coverage or kick you off your policy at any time during the year. Seems a little one sided to me.
Glassdoor doesn’t have your back
Bonus renege
I work at a place where they usually offer a bonus if you pick up a shift. Problem is, they’ll say it out loud, even in the team meetings. Ppl will pick the shifts up then when it’s paycheck time those bonuses are missing. They then say they either never said it or meant it some other way like it only applies if they directly ask you🤦️. Any way to fight this? I can get at least all ppl present at the meeting to affirm the bonuses were offered.
