I work 56 hours a week. Work starts at 4:30 am and ends at 3 pm; lunch is at 12:30. Working in a big factory, we prep before lunch so we can go to lunch, stopping the machines so we can take our break. We usually stop doing anything 2 minutes before lunch and start our long walk all the way across the facility to the lunch room. Apparently work did not like this, so today, even though we had our machines down and nothing to do, my boss had us stand by our work stations for two minutes as to say “hey look, we are still working.” We could have used those two minutes of doing nothing to walk across the facility to rest and eat, but no. Idk why they need to be stuck up about it. We work hard as it is. If we have nothing to…
Month: December 2022
Kind of feels like ageism
At least they admit it now.
Boss thinks he owns me
I work as a nanny for a wealthy family. I have guaranteed hours from 8 to 5 every day. Which means I get paid even if they don’t need me and whatever happens I’m at work everyday from 8 to 5. No matter what. Those are my boss’s hours. They’re reserved for his family. Well, December is a busy time. Everyone wants a baby sitter cause they have holiday parties. I’m booked solid for extra work (after 6pm) pretty much every single day. Boss tells me he has an holiday party on Friday and needs me to work extra hours. This wouldn’t be an issue but I’m already booked with another family. I tell him to call the backup nanny. Backup nanny is booked too. Boss decides to tell me that moving forward I should ask him before I book any extra jobs because he might need me. This guy…
This particular bank has made the decision, burried deep in an email and not an announcement, that they are choosing to treat COVID as any other sick day AND you are no longer required to disclose if you actively have COVID. These choices may not seem like a huge deal on their own but if you consider that there is a 3 day per week in-office requirement, and IF you get COVID it will be deducted from your vacation time as sick leave, then you are effectively forced to enter a physical office environment to meet the in-office requirement if you no longer have sick days left to use. All while actively having COVID and you don’t even have to disclose it to anyone. Have COVID? No sick days left? Too bad. Come into the office for the sake of team building. I am beyond frustrated.
