Recruiting/Hiring Woes
To start, I discovered this subreddit through a Facebook post about misleading job postings. I am a manager for a company that has some pretty absurd practices when it comes to recruiting/hiring. When a job posting is listed, it is done so in a way to achieve “more qualified candidates” than what is actually expected of the job. For example, the owner of the company usually posts a job listing and titles it “Store Manager” even though we are actually looking for Sales Consultants. When I have brought up my concerns about the misleading nature, I have been told “We do it so we get higher quality candidates.” When looking back at how I was recruited, it was the same thing. I had applied for a management role, then told I didn’t meet the requirements of the role (even though I did), and then was offered the role that they…
I'm searching for a tiktok video someone made that proposed this theory: the middlemanagers that insist the most on abolishing working from home are the linkedin types that really lean into “your job and position defines your identity” bs. Two aids, women in their late 70s, stated they skipped their lunch to help monitor the students. I suggested that they ask our boss if they could leave early by the amount of time they had for lunch or just ask to be paid for their lunch. Their response was to ask “where I got the nerve” to assume workers deserve compensation, and that “all you millennials will run the world to shit with all your entitlement! If you choose to work through your lunch or you are asked to work more you work and you don’t complain!” I told them off and told them I…
