Recruiting/Hiring Woes

To start, I discovered this subreddit through a Facebook post about misleading job postings. I am a manager for a company that has some pretty absurd practices when it comes to recruiting/hiring. When a job posting is listed, it is done so in a way to achieve “more qualified candidates” than what is actually expected of the job. For example, the owner of the company usually posts a job listing and titles it “Store Manager” even though we are actually looking for Sales Consultants. When I have brought up my concerns about the misleading nature, I have been told “We do it so we get higher quality candidates.” When looking back at how I was recruited, it was the same thing. I had applied for a management role, then told I didn’t meet the requirements of the role (even though I did), and then was offered the role that they…

Looking for video about bosses insisting on offiice work because they see and need us as NPCs

I'm searching for a tiktok video someone made that proposed this theory: the middlemanagers that insist the most on abolishing working from home are the linkedin types that really lean into “your job and position defines your identity” bs. Therefore, they need an office full of employees that act as NPCs so they can roleplay that awful work-based fantasy they call a life. I thought I had found that video in this subreddit, but either I'm wrong or I can't find the keywords. Someone knows what I'm talking about? Video was intended to be funny, but the more I think about it, the more depressing it actually is.

After Elon Musk took over Twitter, he abruptly fired dozens of janitors—mostly immigrants & women of color—with no warning or explanation.

I’m sick and tired of the old mentality of “work without compensation and stop complaining”

I work in a high school as an aid to students with disabilities and exceptionalities. Today was a midterm day so when the kiddos I was proctoring left, I went to go help out the regular aids that watch the halls and the cafeteria. Two aids, women in their late 70s, stated they skipped their lunch to help monitor the students. I suggested that they ask our boss if they could leave early by the amount of time they had for lunch or just ask to be paid for their lunch. Their response was to ask “where I got the nerve” to assume workers deserve compensation, and that “all you millennials will run the world to shit with all your entitlement! If you choose to work through your lunch or you are asked to work more you work and you don’t complain!” I told them off and told them I…
