Month: January 2023
I left work early the other day, to pick up a kid from school, and was planning to go home and call into the remainder of my meetings for my day since my afternoon was booked solid. After Informing my boss of my plan, she responded with “I know you’ll be balancing it out tomorrow”. Umm, balancing? I’m working my normal hours, not taking the afternoon off. Guess next time I’ll just call in for the day when I need a little flexibility. Why do bosses never recall the amount of times I’ve been called during off hours, or asked to meet a deadline so I stay late or work a Saturday?
I have been with this company for two years, healthcare field, and it has been making me mentally and physically sick. My manager is either unable or unwilling to listen/hear/improve or try to care. Her pretending to partner with her team is laughable and I made sure my (two) other teammates are ready and willing to GTFO/be references/go out for a drink this weekend haha and genuinely seek alternate routes of employment. No matter how scary it is to change – I have to keep moving. I’ve been applying to other places the past two weeks and have heard back already, I just needed to tell this to somewhere to anyone or to anything. You can do it! This sub has helped remind me 🙂 Thank you!!!! Woo Hoo!!!
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) has introduced a bill that would ban members of Congress from trading and owning stocks, using the name of his legislation to take a jab at Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Hawley on Tuesday introduced the Pelosi Act — or the Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments Act — renewing a legislative push to curtail stock trading by lawmakers that has failed over the last few years.
Do you pay to interview?
I’m asking this group because I want an honest opinion. I’m looking for a care giver for my daughter and I’m setting up an interview with someone. This person asked to get paid. Is this a standard practice to pay someone to interview? I’ve never been paid for an interview, but haven’t been in the work force for a bit so maybe something changed. Thanks!
Why can’t we find a nanny?!
basically as the title states. I worked for a lady who owned a business 3 days a week and only worked 2 weeks before she fired me with no warning because I got sick (she was fucking insufferable!) She was paying me with checks and never gave me a agreement of employment or anything professional. Today 7 months later – she calls asking to get my social bc she has 1099 forms she’s filing. I DO NOT trust her because she’s disorganized. and i worked for a total of 6 days in june. will i get fined or in trouble if i don’t give it to her? i only made 600 total probably for those few days. any advice is appreciated. EDIT: I wanted to also ask – i read online if you don’t report the money the IRS will see that and delay your refund. I don’t want that…
